You need to repost the links using [ img ] [ /img ] tags (without the spaces), not html, if you want the images to show up in the post

Other than that, unfortunately the opinion of your friend counts for very little. If you are serious about selling, get a GIA color origin report - it would cost $100 - or a complete grading report for $150.

FWIW, based on the photos my suspicion is that GIA would call this Y-Z light brown and if I were interested that's what I would base my price upon. I see no yellow in the photos, and the saturation is not up to fancy level. Here is a photo of a (nice) fancy brownish yellow...

and here is yours...

Thats a nice sized diamond. I can difinitly see the yellow in it in this photo. however, it does seem to look rather milky.... does it have strong fluorescence?

I am not enough of an expert as a lot of the others on here about what it may be worth..... but I would like to welcome you to the forum  hello

OK - the yellow is there, but I still think there is enough brown (and not enough saturation) to make it difficult to sell it as a FbY without a GIA report that says that.

The opacity is not caused by fluorescence; it's diffuse clouds, and this kills the diamond. Honestly, I think it's going to be very difficult to sell.

Hi tyrique. I know it is frustrating to hear, however, it is really quite impossible to rate or price a diamond competently via internet photos, even with a description of sorts. For example, your diamond might very well have Fancy color, so, already, a few of us here may disagree on the very basic issue of color. An unbiased report, such as one from GIA, is an essential place to start. I am not criticizing your gemologist friend, he/she could be dead-on. I just think GIA, with all its high-tech equipment, is best suited to objectively and competently test and evaluate your stone.

Yet, even with a GIA report, I would hesitate to render an opinion without seeing the stone IRL. And THEN, the price would STILL be up for debate... it is the nature of the diamond industry. It is a fact; when it comes to diamonds, there is no clear pricing-path to follow. Also, remember, brown and yellow are the most common of diamond colors; even if your stone is a Fancy, without more INTENSE and/or PURE saturated color, pricing for diamonds in this color family will be less than many colored and Fancy-colored diamonds.

For what it is worth, based on your photos, the stone does appear to be quite cloudy... not something that I would want to see in a diamond that I might be considering for purchase. I do, however, like the color very much.

I love the fact that you had this originally as rough; it gives your diamond a lovely history. Why not keep it... after all, the two of you have a unique story to tell.

Hi everyone!
This photo depicts rather accurately the type of thing I refer to when I say "dull"
The pixels are fine- because the photo is in good focus.
Maybe the diamond does not look this way in real life- but the photo shows dull
The value of such diamonds is extremely low compared to get quality ( or even more commercial) qualities.
If you see one carat diamonds advertised for $999 ( or less) they may be that price because they are dull.
Again- I'm not saying that particular stone is dull, based on the photo- just that the photos seems to me to deptict dull very well.

Also- there are dull white diamonds that GIA grades "Fancy White" that have a far stronger value- but this does not look like that.
