So money is no object in this poll.  Imagine that you can choose a diamond of whatever weight, cut and clarity you desire.  You just have to decide on the color.  Forget what may be possible in real life - if you really want a 30ct red then you go girl!

What color would it be??

I would pick a blue diamond - denim blue.

I will never be able to buy even a small one in that color but that would be the ultimate to me.  I'd take it over a red if my decision was purely on taste alone (because let me tell you, if both were being offered free, I'd run off with the red, auction the bugger, BUY the blue and a nice house in the country too..................)...........okay, I'm somewhat off topic now!  Just vote for your dream color and let's see where the chips lie......

I voted pink, because I've loved all of the pinks here so very much. It was a close call between that and blue, though. I've never seen a denim blue diamond. DH reads to me occasionally, from Patrick O'Brian's novels about Captain Aubrey. (Not a lot happens where we live).  One of the characters is married to a lady who owns a spectacular blue diamond, which crops up from time to time in the stories. DH was a naval officer and likes the seafaring tales, I just hang in there for the odd mention of Diana's blue diamond.

Interesting thread DJ - I can't come up with an answer yet though.  I'm going between yellow and orange.

Now that is a pink diamond! Imagine two of those set as gizmos, or in a white halo with rose gold. I wonder how much my house is worth these days.

Did you see the new movie of the orange radiant currently in stock?  It's a DOOZY!

Annie, I know you love that one - I was trying not to make you heartsick!  Although, as I believe I've already mentioned, you are definitely overdue a sparkly.......

Yes, that orangey stone is remarkable in person.
A lot of folks have commented the video looks better than the photos...I agree that it looks better in real llife too.....

But I'm thinking Vivid Yellow for my ring.......

I love the pinks. David has my dream ring on the site, the 3 stone with a pinky/purple in the centre. Sighhhhh

Vivid yellow - I am almost afraid to see one in person for fear that anything lighter will never again be good enough!  One day I will get to play in David's safe...............it's that thought alone that keeps me going some days..............especially when the kids are off school...........

IHADP, it is certainly unusual.  It's a radiant.  I really like the facet pattern - it's stunning for sure!

I know the one Awestruck!  I think BigRed covets that darling too!

Hi All!
The cut of this diamond would have to be classified as a "Radiant"
Of course, there's really no such a thing as a "Radiant" diamond if you base your opinion on what GIA calls different cuts.
This one was a "Cut Cornered Square Modified Brilliant"

The trick is- there's different designs of faceting for what is commonly referred to as a "radiant"
Neither GIA's nomenclature- nor common everyday diamond terminology has a way to distinguish the different styles.

The stone IHADP posted has a facet pattern somewhat similar to a round brilliant on the bottom, all the lines coming to a point in the center.
Now, let's compare this with a  Square Radiant  where the facet lines come to more of a "seam line" rather than all joining in a point ( known as the "Culet")

The second design gives less defined facet lines- with more of a "bucket of crushed ice" look.

To be fair, DJ, it usually IS you!  Grin Let's resurrect the plans for a GTG and descend on that safe en masse.

I particularly love the radiants that still have emerald 'in the gene pool' The best of both worlds, I think.

That's a great explanation, David.  Is this why Carathead's infamous Chi-Chi diamond looks so different too?
