I am about to become the proud owner of a new (second hand) DBL addition.  It is a lovely .6 ct Y-Z radiant.  And, I was thinking about resetting it in a pink halo.  I just wanted to find out what David and the rest of you thought about that idea...  Is it too much?

Hmm, I'm having a hard time picturing it. For me it would be too much I think, I'd lean more towards a yellow melee halo (would make it look allot larger) or a white melee halo to really make the yellow POP!
JMHO though!  Wink

You know...the pink and yellow combo never did it for me.....but isn't there a pink and yellow ring on one of the DBL pages.....

I'd be tempted to stick with yellow...but white would make a great contrast with the centre.

This one - it's fancy intense pink....and it's a funky ring....

But after seeing it.....maybe a light pink halo would look nice with the y-z...kind of understated (compared to the contrast of the FIY/FIP ring)

And remember there was some talk a while back...somewhere, not sure where it could have been...but something about a bracelet in alternating pink and yellow...and I think it was voted then that it wasn't the most popular combo of colours.

Oh, did I say what a purdy stone you are getting....mmmmmm......

Hmmm that's a hard one.  Personally, the colors aren't my favorite together.

Really, the only pink and yellow ring I've liked was that pink and yellow three stone pear ring (I'm just assuming you know the one that I mean, if you don't, I'll try to find a picture...).

I wonder what it would look like with a bigger halo.  Like my very favorite Fancy Juicy Sunset Orange ring!  (see pic)

Me too.  I don't know why but I don't like two colors mixed - I always want some white in there.

I'm so glad you bought that ring though - what a great price!  Congrats to you!

You got such a great price on that ring KK, that I would save pink diamonds for a project later on down the road.   Are you set on keeping it for a ring?  I see it as a pendant........with a white gold chain but the diamond set in yellow gold.    I too am not super fond of mixing pink and yellow...it ends up looking a little too "fru-fru"for my taste. Undecided    I do like a pink and yellow 3 stone ring though.................~Ronda

Hi All!
Kath- I think the main stopping point is the size.
When a diamond is below 1.00carat, there's a lot less choices in castings we can offer that will work.
That means a custom made ring that might cost 2 times the price of the diamond?

PS: I think light yellow and link might look very nice together in other circumstances.....

Thanks for the feedback guys, but I still kind of like the idea of the combination.

True David...  This stone is probably not worth a custom setting.  But, I am just trying to come up with something a little different than what I already have.  However, I am now thinking that my yellow EC might look quite nice with a pink halo...  What do you think about that idea?Huh?

Well if it fits in one of the castings, you could do a pink halo, white halo but yellow might be too intense given how light the center is.

It might look quite  nice with pink melee since it's a light yellow. Brown pink melee would bring the price down if David can get that. But I think it would have to go in a casting, though. Custom making a setting would go over the cost of the diamond. (or a large percentage)

It would look really good in a yellow lucida. It's in a white lucida by customer request right now. But it has intense sparkle power and the shape that goes well in that style setting.

I guess I am in the minority here...I think yellow and pink are FUN colors together!  Oh well, I guess I am craving Spring...

Glad you like it KK, you will figure out something...you have a lot of projects to think about!

I'm JUST starting to venture in to diamonds, let alone COLOR diamonds. I've never seen colored diamonds in real life. I would LOVE to see that beauty in a setting like DJ or Ronda's halo with white diamonds. Would that work? Then again, that setting will cost more than the diamond itself... even without it being custom. I know.... not much help...  Embarrassed

This is so funny to me, because just last night I was looking at some of the loose smallish DBL yellows and I was wondering how they would look surrounded by pinks.  I have seen a lot of rings like that in the very high end shops in Beverly Hills, and they can really be quite spectacular, especially if, like KK you already have quite a collection and want to do something new.

David definitely has a point about the cost issue, but as far as the "look," I think it could be really nice.  I even like the thought of doing a 3-stone halo like my favorite (must post pics at all possible opportunities.  Think the same exact setting with all pink melee. . .

Seeing that ring makes me change my way of thinking!  Are you a bit more confused KK?   I guess the bottom line would be how much do you want to put into this ring compared to what type of setting you will chose for your yellow EC.   I definately can appreciate wanting something a little different from the other rings that you have!  What a fabulous collection too!~Ronda

I think that a yellow diamond with a pink halo would look awesome, but if it were me I would spend the extra money on setting your fabulous EC-that baby has to have an amazing setting:)

Just my 2c, in the end the final decision is definitely up to you Grin

I'm not really sure I'd opt for pink melee either. Sorry. But hey, it's your ring and YOU are the only one who has to love it! Smiley

I REALLY like the idea of that bypass design that DJ posted above.

If using a pink diamond is out, then perhaps a pink sapphire? Or a light pink spinel or pink tourmaline? Something more of a pastel shade to resemble the hue of a pink diamond. I think it would be quite smashing!!

Thanks for all of your input guys.  I am thinking about a pink halo fo the yellow EC at the moment.  I realize that this guy is a little too little...  And, not worth the expense of a custom setting.

However, this little guy might look great with a pink halo...

It sure will!  I see that more than I do the other.  I guess maybe because it is bigger and with it being an EC.  Will make it look softer and not so "fru-fru".......I know whatever you decide.........It will be a masterpiece!~Ronda

Do you guys remember the thread on DT for Female's ring? It was a S-T light yellow radiant with a pink diamond halo. My work computer isn't letting me copy the pics, but here's the link for it:

http://www.diamondri...owthread.php?t=82640

I think it turned out really pretty. Might be a little too "girly" for my tastes, but I do like the yellow & pink combo.

I think I would chose a white halo with a yellow center stone......but the pink is pretty too!

I'm probably just adding to your confusion KK, sorry......hopefully David could find a cast ring to save you $$$.

Remember this ring?Huh?

Not a halo, but a yellow radiant w/pink sapphire sides. I *LOVE* this combo!
