Hi everybody!
Ruby, there are no stupid questions. There are however very substandard lab reports, that people confuse with GIA reports.
When it comes to find diamonds, there's only one lab that dealers rely on-that's GIA.
What does VLY stand for on a diamond grading report? I'm thinking Very Light Yellow, or is it something else?
Ruby, your question is a very good one. It illustrates the point that these non-GIA reports don't really tell us very much. We trade extensively in fancy colored diamonds, and I have no idea what they're talking about when they say "NLY".
Just because a diamond has gia report that doesn't mean it's necessarily going to be a nice one. But in my experience, nice diamonds, really nice diamonds with a non GIA report are few and far between.
If they do mean natural light yellow that could be anywhere from S. T. color range down to Y-Z, or even fancy light yellow.
Or it could be an M color??
