I like the idea of pinks surrounding it! May I ask when and where did you get this stone? Did you get it loose or was it already set?

To answer BigReds question, I bought it loose.  As for the "blue gold", I looked into it.  Unfortunately there is no stable commercial mix readily available.  I was told that it would cost a fortune to go down that path.  Although the pink halo is my preference, finding someone to do a pink halo in my area will be difficult.  I will likely have to surround it with Ds to try and bring out the blue.

Now that I know how to attach a picture, here is my small light blue marquise.  Just a little guy with a hint of color.  Thinking of surrounding him in a double halo - yellow then white.  Or then again, maybe pink then white.   Huh? Huh? Huh?

What size is the stone?  How about an east-west setting with a white halo?  Unless you're really set on the yellow diamonds, I don't know about that... I'm just not sure they'd bring out the color in the blue.....

It is only 0.25cts and is 7mmx3mm.  I've thought of an east west but it isn't my favorite.  It definitely needs something with a strong color behind it to bring out the blue.  Since it has a decent length, I thought I could get away with a north south if I fattened him up a bit with a halo.

I say pink and white... I can't see yellow working well IMO...

I also vote pink and white, or just white, the yellow might make it greenish.
I really love it by the way.

Well my thinking is over.  I just bought some small light pink pears to flank it so it looks like a pink/white halo for my little guy.  I'll probably wrap a white halo around the pinks on the shank too.

The pinks are pretty small.  Only 15cts each as I don't want to make them the obvious stone.  I thought I would just kind of embed them in the shank and add a little sparkle around them.  As for timing of getting it back, that is always the question.  I've tried several stores now to set the stones I buy and when they are trying to get your business, they say 2 to  4 weeks.  When they actually have your business, there is always a 2 to 3 week delay.  And since we are heading into the holiday season....who knows.  But I promise, whenever it is done, I will post pictures.

Wow that does sound really nice!  By the time you add the double halo and the pink pears...each with their own halo (If i read correctly)..this ring is gonna be heavy!!  What a nice problem to have right?!  Hooray for colored diamonds! Cheesy

So getting my blue marquise set isn't going so well.  I won't go into the long sordid story but the upside is that since I've pretty much given up on it and don't want to look at it anymore because it is a painful reminder of endless frustration, I decided to buy another one (probably not the best idea but it was so pretty.....and well I WANTED it).  Anyway, I've posted a pic of my new baby blue.  Looking for suggestions.  My thought is either to put it into a by-pass ring I already have that has a pink and yellow fancy (I'd chuck the yellow) OR put it in a tension setting with pave sides.  What do you guys think?

1. What are you going to do with the marquise? (Hey with the number of marquise cuts on my hand, I have to know LOL)
2. I like the idea of pave, but delicate double claws...

The blue is beautiful.  For some reason, I picture it in a high polished, platinum, tension setting.  Just somthing about the color of platinum and a blue diamond  Smiley.

EMJ - I've given up on the marquise.  I've had some bad luck with it.  Think I'll throw it in a safe and leave it for awhile.

Madora - I think we are on the same page.  For some reason, I'm really attracted to a blue in a tension setting.
