I found three interesting diamonds and would like to know general expected  pricing for them.  I'm giving serious consideration to these diamonds, but I don't want to get ripped off.  None have GIA reports.

Diamond #1:
Gem Type:  Natural Green Diamond
Total Weight:  0.85 Carats
Size:  6.2 x 5.3 x 4.2 MM.
Shape:  Oval
Clarity:  VVS
Color:  Slight-Golden GREEN (Looks golden to me)
Luster:  Excellent

Diamond #2:
Fancy Light Green Diamond (Back right in the pic)
Total Weight:  .48 Carats
Size:  4.3 x  3.4 MM.
Shape:  Old Mine Cut
Clarity:  VVS
Color:  True Fancy Light Green
Luster:  Excellent, Exceptional

Diamond #3:
Gem Type:  Natural Orange Diamond
Total Weight:  0.54 Carats
Size:  5.6 x 4.3 x 3.1 MM.
Shape:  Cusion
Clarity:  VS
Color:  Yellow Orange

Thanks!

i would be very careful without any GIA report...  especially if they're asking for a lot of money...

they might just be yellow diamonds with modifying colors, such as greenish yellow or orangy yellow...  the orange yellow is most likely orangy yellow or yellowish orange...  i think fancy light green given by GIA is even more than fancy light blue, if i'm not mistaken...  i'm sure david will jump in...

I thought I would jump in as well. The luster on the second diamond should not be "exceptional" unless that's the term the jeweler himself will use. Is there ANY kind of report on these diamonds, even if IGI or some other lab? Who graded the diamonds?

There are no reports, other than the description from the seller.  If it counts for anything, he is also selling several other diamonds, and has a wonderful reputation.

HI all!
Well, my feeling is that it's possible to buy diamonds from a trusted dealer with no GIA report. BUT- there's a lot of things I find to be important for a dealer to get to that point.
Straightforward representation is critical in this regard.
The descriptions offered certainly raise some red flags for me.
For one thing, using terminology like "exceptional Luster" in such a manner to make it seem there's actually a grade for such a thing..
Then there's the use of overstated grades- VVS for example.
I've been grading diamonds for 30 years ( bu i sound old) but I'll never grade higher than VS1.
many times these "VVS" grades are simply issued to make buyers believe something.

Calling the diamond in the photo "Natural Green Diamond "another ridiculous claim.

If they're really low priced, then it might make sense- but clearly, the descriptions are "optimistic" - that in itself bothers me.

Remember, this is what I do, and I'm proud of it. I think it's so very important to make sure to be clear in describing diamonds.

David, thanks for your honesty!  Buying diamonds on the internet is a difficult process and I knew I would get the best feedback from here.  I don't typically sway from DBL, but this one just kind of popped up while slumming on the net.  Thanks for saving my husbands hard earned money!!! Diamond #1 looks like it has a fairly large inclusion right about 12:00.  I don't think it looks clean at all; definitely not VVS.
