Hi All!

I just got ordered the .74 Light Brown Diamond and I'm so excited!  Although I ordered it loose (because I can't afford to set it yet) I would love to hear your suggestions on a setting for a Right Hand Ring.

I'm thinking three stone with colorless stones next to it.  Maybe with some white sapphires or white diamonds?  What do you guys think?

Congrats!  That one didn't last long.  I like rounds set with rounds.  I think Pinklady has a brown round with two smaller whites and it's on the homepage rotation.  It's beautiful!

Sounds wonderful - CONGRATS! - but don't go the white sapphire route.  They look really flat compared to diamonds - they just don't have fire to them.  That's my firm opinion and I'm sticking to it!

CONGRATS!!! You got this beauty!

I must agree with DJ on the NO Sapphire sides.  I have seen a few rings, even ER's with a white sapphire as the center, and it looks VERY dead... Buy CZ if you have to but not a white sapphire!!

I could see this baby being set with white pear sides (my FAVORITE combo for RB) or maybe 2 white RB on the side?

PLEASE post a pic of the stone when you get it! It is light brown with a hint of green, so I'm curious if it's a MPD!

Congrats Jelly
I`ve had 3 right hand rings from David and it`s always difficult to think of a style which doesn`t shout " engagement ".
Your 3 stone setting sounds good to me.

Gorgeous and congratulations!  NO on the sapphires.   I think it will cheapen the look that you are going for!     DEFINATELY sidestones.... what about the simple baguette setting if pears are out of budget?     YOu must post pics when it is finished.  Smiley

Jelly, what an wonderful and unusual choice!  I'm assuming this is to be a right-hand ring, not an engagement ring... correct? Your diamond should make a fabulous ring.

I must admit, I'm always trying to get the most finger "coverage" for the ct size.  If you like the style, I think the diamond is perfectly sized for a dynamite halo style ring. It would be extremely elegant... very subtle color surrounded by colorles stones.  Maybe some rose gold prongs around the center stone and white gold or platinum around everything else. Although, with this color stone maybe you'd want yellow gold around the diamond? I think you'd get a LOT of bling for the buck, so to speak (and a gorgeous piece of jewelry to boot)!

I LOVE the baguette suggestion. Also, I don't know what size your hands are, or what type of budget you will eventually have, but I think a three-stone ring would be most impressive with two colorless side stones, about the same size as the center stone (when you are rich and famous and budget is no option).  Grin  If the stones are all nearly the same size, and you keep the setting low, I think the overall look will be more band-like, rather than engagement-ring-like – we did something similar with the ring David recently had made for me, and I love it. I can wear it with jeans to the barn or out on a special occasion and it ALWAYS looks suitable for what I'm doing AND looks great.  But then, you may want to set it all high.  Or, maybe some colored stones for accents instead of colorless?  The weird part about this layout would be that, most likely, you'll spend more on the same-size side stones than you did for the center stone.  It wouldn't bother me, but it is a little wierd for some folks.

Oh, gee, it may be too ERsih, but what about the setting like the one on Gemstruck's marquise? Snoop do you ahve a photo?  I think there's another ring with the same setting featured on the DBL website as well.

What fun you'll have with this stone... the possibilities are endless! And, no matter what you decide, certainly, you will have a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece.

What about a yellow gold bezel setting?  Might bring out the warmth of the stone and make it look bigger.  Something like this?

Thank you all for your reply and your suggestions!  I have to admit that my jaw dropped when I first saw PinkLady's gorgeous three stone ring and that has been my inspiration for a three stone.

I talked to Mark on the phone and he said the stone is very sparkly and definitely has green in it.  I can't wait to see it!  My present e-ring is a solitaire with shared prong 3 pointers on the side.   I'll probably go for something different looking for this RHR.

I definitely like the idea of setting it in a yellow or pink gold head, with the rest of the body in white gold.  Trinkette, I definitely want finger coverage for this ring.  What color/type of colored stones would you suggest?  I'm not sure what would match without clashing too much except for a white stone.

Snooper...what do you mean by MPD?

Lemonluvr, I have been stalking the website waiting for my perfect stone to come up.  Of course I pounced when I saw this budget beauty!

I never thought of pears.  Hmm...i'll have to check out more pictures.

Keep the ideas coming!  I'm having fun!

My first RHR from DBL was a bezel setting Jelly. It is still my favourite.

I think these are great suggestions! (Thanks, DJ, for posting Gemstruck's ring).

Jelly, do you prefer traditional/classic, romantic, or modern type jewelry? Do you plan to wear this ring always, sometimes, or occasionally?  Are you physically active with your hands?  A total klutz? (Um, that would be me). Do you care about keeping your jewelry spanky clean?  Are your fingers, long, short, sizable, slender... Knowing these answers can help narrow down your choices. Already, you've got several very different – each quite unique – suggestions.  And they are ALL very doable.

Here's another idea. This center stone is just half-a-carat, so you'd get even more coverage and sparkle with your diamond.  But, more importantly, this center stone, like yours, is a fairly subtle, mutable color. I think that it really sings in this setting.  And, with the right color prongs (which may be yellow gold, or even white gold to match the halo, if the stone looks greenish at times) I bet that yours would too.

GIA Girl, that is a beautiful ring with a brown diamond! WOW!

Trinkette I love that halo with the yellow gold prongs!!  So many choices...so little money.  Cry

I will start saving in my "diamond fund" for this setting.  I was hoping not to spend more on the setting than on the diamond itself ($500) just on principal.  But those settings are definitely droolworthy!

I love antique looks, halos, three stones, solitaires, etc.  I don't want anything too trendy...rather something that I will still love in 20 years and have others say..."oh that's so 2008!"

I'm not too klutzy nor physically active with my hands.  I plan on wearing this ring 24/7!  I like the look of bezels, but I also like looking at my diamonds from the side angle.  I have a halo pendant that I love, but I prefer rings because I can stare at it all day long! lol  Grin

I have large hands.  My right hand ring finger is size 9, but my fingers are on the longer side.  I DO envy you size 6's and below!  laugh

Jelly, of course you'd have to check with David, but I think that both the ring I posted and the one GIAGirl posted are EXTREMELY reasonable in terms of price. Pears or Baguettes with a classic gold setting could be very reasonable too.  Obviously, the rub comes when you're trying to get more "finger real estate" AND keep costs in check.

Jelly, very cool diamond!  I really love the halo for a RHR.  I recently bought a radiant MPD from David and it is set in a white gold halo.  It looks awesome!  (No pics yet - I am having a terrible time with my camera) Sad
