Hi everyone!!
One of the favorite parts of my job has to do with the rare things that come across my desk...for example- natural yellow baguettes.
These are very rare.

Of course I immediately fell in love with them, but we need to be cautious about what we invest in.

For one thing, if there's no matching stones here, we 'll have a pile of stones with no potential homes!

That single aspect could take it from being a huge bargain- great investment- to a hole that swallows up money.
That's why the diamond business involves the heart, AND the mind!
If one didnot have the heart to love diamonds- to allow the beauty to shine thru, you'd never recognize true beauty.
At the same time, a strict adherence to financial responsibility is essential.
We need to buy the right diamonds to keep our stock vital, and alive- yet we need to SKIP the ones that will not neccesarily make good investments....

We have not had the time to start checking out the particulars, but I wanted to share the initial look with y'all!!

These are really something to see... like honeyed crystal.

david I'm curious, please, can you give us an idea of the approximate range of ct sizes we're looking at?

Without weighing each one, the smallest one I picked out was .09cts, the largest was .24cts....

Thank you. I just wanted some idea of scale; it is so hard to tell from the photo. Hummm, what WOULD one do with these little beauties?  icon_scratch

Great question Trinkette!!

Shapes like Baguettes, Half moons, and some of the other traditional "Side Diamonds" are generally worth far less as a single, as opposed to part of a pair, or layout.
For example- if we can find matching pairs here, how beautiful they'd look as side stones for ither yellow or cololess center diamonds.

We've made a few gorgeous DBTY necklaces using yellow baguettes as the centerpiece- which is one way us using a single baguette.
Can anyone think of some other uses??

Gorgeous stones-I was thinking that I now NEED a wedding band to go with my new DBL bezel ring, but wanted yellow bags in it-can't wait to hear the outcome on this parcel.

I love disc pendants, I've seen several that are gorgeous.  My fav was an organic shaped disc, lightly hammered(one with slightly irregular edges) with hammer set diamonds---I would love one with yellow bags of differing sizes Smiley  Or for the more tame/predictable pendant-a journey style would be lovely!

I'd like a long legged thin one set vertically in a inset central groove (8mm long) for a wide men's wedding band. How cool would that be?

david What ever happened to this parcel?

I was thinking....what do you guys think of a yellow baguette set E-W in a band-like settting (perhaps a bezel) as a sweet 16 ring for DD? (Is that too much?)

How about using the baguettes to make a ring in this style of setting, with a yellow or white center instead of the sapphire?

WM, perhaps I'm remembering this incorectly, but, I THINK that David said on another thread somewhere that because there wasn't one, single, match in the parcel, he decided to send them back.  I don't know, it must be terribly frustrating to come across stones that are so cool and unusual, and still have no viable use for them...  tantrum

HI Guys,
Yes, making a ring such as the Sapphire one Mikla posted requires that you start with precisely size matched stones- than cut the corners to fit the setting. If we had the stones it would look cool!

Buying parcels is a tricky business.
There may be, say, 10 carats of assorted size/color/clarity diamonds in a parcel.
It could be a true "melange"- a group of rough stones polished. OR it could be a group of stones that's been picked through.
Let's say we were talking about round diamonds, and they average .25cts- a popular size.
There could be NO .25's rather a whole bunch of.22's and .28's- which would make it impossible to pick .50ct tw pairs......

In this case, it's possible that all the matching pairs had been picked and removed, and what we saw was the leftovers.....

Well, you have to have diamonds you can make something out of.
