Saw something that my lying eyes don't quite believe....a yellow princess cut diamond that glows bright blue (almost neon teal) in blacklight...but continues to glow orange once the black light is off (kind of like those 80's orange glow in the dark shoe laces) for a couple of minutes.....
Is that a sign of some sort of treatment? (Is it radioactive?)

EMJ that sounds very intriguing. .  Kryptonite Acey? LOL.  I wonder where superman is.  I have just ordered - my little satisfactions, if you remember the thread -  a black light to play with my diamonds.  I will be very disappointed if none of them glows.  I know they are not really supposed to but that makes them interesting.

Isn't this known as phosphorescence?  Just a stab in the dark there!  Hmmmm.  I'll send this onto David for you EMJ as he sure knows better than me!

I just got my blacklight and tried it on all my jewellery.  I found that in  a pair of identical diamond earrings one glows bright blue.  One good thing came of this though, the very old ring I have (1700) has a green stone and I wasnīt sure if it was an emerald or not as they sometimes put green glass even back then, but it shines beautifully red so it is a real emerald.
Actually I donīt think it makes that much of a difference  as it is more  its age that gives it its value.
