I think this may be one for David but if anybody can help I'd love to hear your thoughts .......

In preparation for getting my Supermodel from David (long legged chameleon type radiant with strong fluor), I've bought a UV light and thought I'd have a look at the diamonds I currently have.  I can't tell you how much fun I've had  Grin

I've taken some pics but two have REALLY surprised me.  First of all, this is a green diamond and it fluoresces yellow - is this is a normal variation of fluor please?  BTW it is the same ring but I had the bottom claws changed to a V prong to protect the diamond so the top photo I took tonight but the bottom one was some time ago!

I've also got a VERY VERY VERY cheap yellow diamond ring and this fluors bright bright bright yellow:

I've also got a blue diamond (heart shape) that appears to be fluorescing a kind of pinky red hue - again, is this something that's "normal"?  I tried and tried to capture this but my camera has refused to pick it up (sorry).

Then just out of interest I found that I had a couple of pieces with fluor and I love the pics - thought you might like to see them .....

I inherited this ring from my Mother.  It's very old and was originally my grandmothers but one diamond clearly has fluor.

BUT look at what the UV has done to the colour of my Alexandrite (left side of the photo)!!!!

Such fun!

Wow, now I'm tempted to go and get a light! That's really awesome, the alexandrite changing-- I thought they only went green and purple, so I guess that shows what I know! Did you get any pictures of your blue heart? I'd LOVE to see how that turns out!

I can't capture the pink red hue from the blue heart at all and I took tons of photos (sorry!).  I've got to say it was great fun playing with the camera and light - highly recommended!

In terms of alexandrite, I've got a couple that go a deep ruby red from an emerald green (although most, as you say, go an amethyst purple colour).

SB!  I do not have one of those either.  Maybe if I got one my bf would think diamonds were as cool as I do.
CS your pics are super cool.  I am with SB, let's see that heart.

I'll try again at the weekend to see if I can capture it - if anybody has any tips to get good fluor pics (so I can get a photo of the red) all gratefully received!

I just took another look at that RB and baguette ring-- I didn't notice the baguettes going in opposite directions every second setting! That looks SO AWESOME. The rings seem tiny, what's your finger size? (If you don't ming my asking xD)

Of course I don't mind!  I'm a UK M or N which I think is a USA 6 or 7.  I prefer a 7 though just for comfort!

I've just taken some more photos of the heart and think I may have captured the red hue.  I'll upload them tomorrow cos it's midnight here and I've got a heavy day at work tomorrow!

Before I go to bed!

Not sure this really represents what I'm seeing.  I'm seeing a dusky pink/red hue (not too strong though).

Totally fascinating. I've got to get a light and play in the dark with MY rocks. (Why did that sound naughty?)
