i have read many places that one should not go lower than a vs2 on a yellow diamond.  wouldn't anything lower than that clarity further make the sparkle less apparent in a yellow diamond?

i believe you can get I1 clarity one yellow diamonds with great sparkle and fire  just beause a carbon spot or feather is locatered and visable doesn't mean it the daimond wount sparkle as much as a vvs1 diam the is my opion  i am by know means an expert ask david to confirm..  sure i would love to have all flawless or vvs stones but bugets can't always justify when you can get  si yellow diamonds that are cut better the vvs. they will sparkle and have  more fire

i agree, a great cut I1 can have a lot of sparkle...  i have an I1 yellow radiant, and i can tell you it doesn't look like an I1!

Hi Atlchick...It's amazing the horse doody that gets passed off as fact.
I have so many conversations where the interested party says something like: "I won't look at an SI diamond...I don't want a junky stone and I understand SI's are bad"

That's simply not a valid means of determining a diamond's desirability.
Put another way: A given diamond might be internally flawless clarity, and really ugly....or an I1 clarity diamond can be gorgeous.....there's other factors that determine a diamond's beauty....

Alex?? FESS UP!

If the cut is superb, often it can 'mask' the inclusions.  I've seen some UGLY VVS1 diamonds.  They had a great clarity but the cut was cloudy.

Cut, Cut, Cut!   It not only can mask the inclusions but can make a diamond look bigger and face a little whiter!!  icon_thumleft

I think my ChiChi is an SI1 or SI2...you would never know it...the cut is phenomenal, and you can't see anything but pure gorgeous golden sparkle!

Did you see chi chi in the front page rotation. It's to die for. And I need to put up snooper's new jewel. Tomorrow. I'll do it then!
