OMC, she's beautiful.  I don't know why I'm partial to shepherds, because I've never had one.  It sounds as though you spoil her.

Firegypsy, My mother and I adopted a rescued greyhound.  His name is Storm, and he raced for three and a half years.  My mother would take him to the park and out of the blue he would just start running the perimeter of the park (about 3/4 of an acre) two to three times and then just come back.  It was quite unusual.  My Tonks (Toshi in particular) wanted so bad to be his friend, but Storm as intimidated.  Storm has a brindle coat pattern.

awww, poor puppy!  Greys are often scared of their own shadows!  I've only ever had greys, and while their personalities vary, they aren't the most courageous of pups.  They make up for it in cuteness and quirkiness though!

I'm a sucker for the brindles too.   Wink

OMC-Fedora is lovely!  Is she a Belgian Malinois?

Seems this upside-down doggie thing is a trend...

Some of you may recognize Mr. Sunggy (left) from a long-ago thread when he visited David as a pup. Here he is more recently, in typical form, with his daughter, Shampoodle, the smallest and last-born from Snuggy's litter of pups with Daphne (also in a thread somewhere). "Poo" is most like her dad in every way, and both sleep upside-down.

Of course, NONE of this has anything to do with a thread about when a diamond becomes yellow.  Roll Eyes

That's what I was going to ask, too!  I once got a USAF Belgian Malinois security dog "forcibly" retired, because he decided he wanted to drag his handler across a field to get to me to say hello Wink  (I wish I could have adopted him!)

Fedora is *so* lovely Smiley

Trink, I had wondered what ever became of your surprise litter. So you kept one? Or at least one? And if I recall correctly, the smallest one was the one that I thought was too cute for words. You may have to find that thread again so we can revisit your hilarious prose and adorable photos.

GEB, we kept MORE than one, for sure! I just wrote a long pup-udate (pupdate?), then, my satellite connection crashed. Lucky you! I'll try to hunt down the old thread and publish there later... thanks for asking about the puppies...

Aww, I would love to hear about the puppies and hope that you are able to post that pupdate soon. When you posted the first baby pictures, I came thisclose to asking about adopting that littlest girl. Of course, my avatar, Miss Darby, may have been a bit jealous.

I approve! Since she is a redhead, I wanted to give her a nice Irish girl name, so she is Darby Shannon.

I love it.  She's so pretty.  My Darby came to us pre-named.  But as she's from Ireland, I'll allow it.  My last Greyhound that was from Ireland was Peggy.  We let her keep her name too.   Smiley

She's not from Ireland, just has that beautiful red hair. My last redhead was Molly. What can I say, I love the red Aussies.

She's officially a Tervuren - her hair is still growing, and both mummy and daddy are definitely Tervuren. I had a Malinois (dog) that had a coat about her length now when he was fully grown, and he was definitely a bit of a hippie among Malinois. Wink

Well, she will be getting longer hair then-more to shed onto your rugs before she eats them  Wink

She is gorgeous, is she a protection dog?

I ask, because we usually adopt all our pets from a shelter, but have considered a trained Malinois.

This is the latest gem in the Awestruck family collection. She`s called Bronte and is just 9 weeks old. We`ve only had her a few days so we don`t have any really good photographs of her yet.

She's not shedding that much - at least not since she's changed coat to her adult one. When she was 12 months of age we all looked as if we were wearing felt coats...

Yes, she's a protection dog allright. She'll lick you to death if you get close enough.

We have two Tervuren, and they are both very alert (even at 12 years) and both will bark, growl and look "serious" when somebody unknown turns up at the door (or even comes near us when out in the open), but they are both totally useless as protection dogs. The instincts of herd protection and diffidence towards strangers are there, but the aggressiveness is very low. Which is just as well, considering that we have a 7 and a 5 year old playing with them all day long - or at least with Fedora, who still loves playing - and it is a real pleasure to watch them.

My past Malinois, now, he was a lot more assertive... and although not trained for that would defend the family (and the car) eagerly. Not overzealous, mind you, but anybody who even jokingly tried to push me or my sister around would have 70-odd pounds of dog making itself very clearly understood. As a breed they seem to be significantly more dominant/aggressive than Tervurens or Groenendaels. A lot less cuddly and more "leave-me-alone", though, at least based on those I have known well (half a dozen or so).
