I have a thing for gray colored diamonds.  One of the very first colored diamonds I ever saw was a dark gray diamond.  I am pretty sure it was the first natural fancy color I ever saw in person over a decade ago.  It was wicked cool looking but way too big for me.  Had almost the same color as one I am thinking about.

I am not 100% sure I am going to do anything yet, but I am kind of thinking out loud.  I keep coming back to look at this little guy

So what would you do with it if you had it in your hands?  I'm not a flashy gal and I like classic looks. So give me any thoughts you may have!

I think that this stone with a lovely silver color, could make a beautiful effect, set in platinum or chocolate-gold (also burnished).   Smileyprincess

I admit I cannot picture the gray in the chocolate gold.  I need to find a good chocolate gold ring and photoshop to see what I would think.

Saqsay I am not sure a halo is "too much" since this is a small stone.  I am just not sure I am a pink person.  Though one of my first thoughts was doing it in pink gold because I thought of my sister's old 10 speed  Grin

Pink and gray do go *great* together I will agree on that!

A halo isn't a bad idea.  I guess I am kind of thinking pendant with that size.

a part of me always wanted a simple solitaire pendant but would this be good on its own?  Or would I need more with it?  Again thiking out loud as I am not sure of this stone since I normally don't do RB.  But I do love the color.

So I played with the chocolate and pink gold and I was surprised how much I liked the chocolate.

I admit it isn't for me, but I liked it!  Of course the pink looks good too.

I'll attach the 5 minute 'shops.  They aren't meant to be anything more than putting the silvery next to the metals.  No prongs or anything like that Wink

I think I need to ask for a video of this stone.  Again I love the color, but not sold on the shape.  I never am with larger rounds....

i do like it in the 10k pink gold though as well.  for understated i like the idea of a bezel set floating pendant. very chic.

a .21 solitaire would be kinda small IMHO. but the pink halo would sure make it pop. can you photo shop that?

Yes .21 is a bit small.  I actually tried on some DBTY at Tiffany's and the sweet spot for me was actually about this size for a pendant.  I tried on one just under 20 points and one just under a carat and both looked good.  Keep in mind I am 5' tall and not all that large.

I think if I have time later today I'll try 'shopping it into this one http://rockdiamond.c...-diamonds-micro-pave

I don't think I could tolerate a pink with pink halo.  As much as I love them, I really have a hard time wanting to actually *do* it.  Particularly with something I'd wear every day.

And then I'll try this on too after that http://rockdiamond.c...rats-round-brilliant

Thanks for the ideas so far!

Something like this, with whites, or pinkish browns maybe? I also like this style a lot, with a wide bezel (although obviously a round would look a little different).

Nice stone, by the way!

Jen I like the way you think with the simple bezels too.  I am not sure I'd want a three stone as it feels a little "too much" for daily wear.

After playing in photoshop you kind of inspired me.  What about a double bezel.  Like having a miligrained bezel and then a smooth one.  Like take the WG version and instead of diamonds just have it smooth gold?

That would take more photoshop work... hmmm...

Anyway here are two I did.  I think I need to go ask for a movie next before I put too much more into this.

I really like think pink halo bezel pendant, I know a lot of times pink melee will make blue stones look more blue and since they gray is close to blue maybe a pink halo can help encourage a blue feel from this stone, that would be exciting!

I agree.
I know you said you aren't a pink person (you know what I mean...) but I do think a touch of pink would do wonderful things for the grey colour of that stone. Make it really pop. I wonder, how about staying with your double bezel idea, but having two colours of metal? So the inner, milgrained bezel is pink gold, set into a smooth bezel in white or yellow gold? White would be my preference, for contrast and because I think it would look better with the grey and pink than yellow would.

This is going to be really special, I think.

Sanchia I was thinking the same thing as you with gray/blue colors.  Pink really helps to bring it out.

Jen you were almost reading my mind there with the bezel.  Pink milgrain next to the stone and then white gold on the edge.  I'm more of a WG kind of gal (okay everything I own is silver in tone save the yellow gold next to Sunny)

Now I am definitly going to ask for a movie.

I'm still flushed with my success on the marquise bezel earrings, but I may have a career as a designer ahead of me... Grin  So long as every future client wants a solitaire in a wide bezel, of course. Wink

Actually I like the bezel for a marquise something I am going to do in the future too.

We'll see what I think of the stone when I see the movie and then I'll see how much everything will cost in the future.  I've been trying to look at pictures of gray stones online too to see what people have done with them but there aren't a whole lot of pretty ones out there Sad

SV I really like the all WG with diamonds too.  I'm afraid of asking how much it would cost though.  I could always do what I am with Sunny.  Setting simple now and reset later....
