Besides the obvious answer to this question, "matchbox" and "matchbook" were terms used to describe the (new?) ring below.

"I love this shape- you can see what I'm talking about in these photos. We call it a "Matchbook" which is broader than a "Matchbox"."

What does it mean when the term "Matchbox" refers to a diamond's cut?  Gorgeous ring, by the way!!!
