Ok so in the introduce yourself section I stated my dilemma of how I'll never ever be able to chose my ring and I value everyones opinions and suggestions.  I'm going to start a new thread over here since this seems the proper place for it and this can serve as my wish list/book mark page of sorts.  My husband is convince it will take me two years to decide on anything and thinks I should just choose the big daussi or spiced brown pear (one of his favs) or the new round greenie has caught his eye.  (I already have a round)

These are the latest ideas I'm toying with
http://rockdiamond.c...-fluorescence--r3257

If David's wonderful team would be willing make something similar to some of these settings I would be thrilled.  Of course they wouldn't be exact since I wouldn't want another jewelers work completely duplicated.
For this emerald setting the prongs in yellow gold to play out the yellow of the emerald.  The side pears would be rubys, if ruby pears could be found.  The middle scroll work would be changed to another design im thinking a cute little heart.

http://rockdiamond.c...--and-it-shows-r3428
This marquise is still in running and i love the idea of doing something similar to the roundish oval setting below but modified for a marquise so that there are no prongs and the sides are open.  all in white or platinum with rose gold underwork.

And the last one with the baguettes would be interesting if I ever found a pear i liked.  but I would not want all that engraving  just a smooth shank with the little wells and those baguettes making little ice bridges across.

I have to admit I am torn between the emerald and the marquise E-W set.  While I am not as much of a fan of marquise as I've said before, I think they are stunning E-W particularly in a setting like that.  And I simply just like that emerald cut, so I wouldn't know which to pick.

I do also really like the setting you posted last.

Someone posted elsewhere that we usually put our preferences in order whether we realize it or not.  Does this seem true for you if you stop and think about it?

Ya know, it does seem true.  I thought that marquise was my favorite (again like you only as an e/w) but come think of it I've always loved that emerald but wasnt sure if it would face up yellow enough or how on earth I would want to set it.

I still am in love with the other settings and watching for the perfect pear diamond.

So what is your perfect pear?  I am just curious.  Of course you could always tell David what you like and let him work his magic.  Or if you want a yellow emerald you might get lucky though I know on step cuts it is more rare.

Two I love (but so not in the budget)
http://rockdiamond.c...d-asscher-cut--r3484
http://rockdiamond.c...a-lovely-shape-r3513

I love the color on this one as well
http://rockdiamond.c...report--faint-yellow

I have a think for stones in the very low colors, but not quite fancy

I know I am rambilng but I find that other people chatting helps me to figure out what I do like.

That yellow square emerald is...beyond words...and budget yes.   haha
please by all means talk away yes it helps a lot.

I looked at that K colored emerald about two weeks ago before I knew I was getting a ring and my husband said no way due to the cloud.  He has strong opinions about emerald and asscher cuts since they hide nothing.

I beg to disagree with that last statement. Particularly with clouds, which one should remember are diffused collections of pinpoints. And pinpoints are inclusions so small that their nature (crystals, cavities, feathers, internal graining, ...) cannot be determined at 10x. The large scale photos on my 15" screen are about 25-30x, and I have problems seeing what is part of the cloud and what is dust. Admittedly if one is looking at the diamond "live" with a loupe or even a pair of eyes that distinction becomes easier, but not necessarily easy...

Here's a lovely E-W setting I found some time ago, to give you some ideas . . .

That setting is flat TDF, Mikla.  I'm just such a klutz, I'd worry myself sick about chipping the edge of the stone.   Embarrassed

Ooooh, I too love the E-W marquise ring set like that.  Perhaps with a setting that is not too high up the risk of banging the diamond and chipping it would be minimized.

OMC.....I completely agree with you when it's in person, in a setting and on the hand, not gonna see it.  But who am I to argue with the man buying me diamonds?

Mikla....I think I love you!  Do you know the stats on that diamond?  I know you found it a while ago but do you happen to remember how the stone was?  Just wondering.  wow.  that is just wow.

That E/W setting Mikla posted with baguettes inset like this?  Too much?
Now I'm torn.
Hubby Should be home from work soon.  Wonder what he will think.

I know what he's going to say.  He's going to ask me why I haven't call David yet.  I was supposed to yesterday.
But I don't want to waste his time when I haven't a clue what exactly I want yet.

At least I'm narrowing it down!  Thank You everyone for all your help!

Isn't the Time Traveler's Wife's engagment ring based on one like that?  I think that type of look is the only one I would be willing to have with a marquise.

I totally understand what you mean about the man buying the stone.  Fortunately  my DH leaves it all to me as he assumes I know way more than he does Wink  I prefer it that way since I am super picky on things that I wear.

I still like that long legged oval in the honey color!  And I would set it just like the marquise above.

Then again another stone I really love and maybe after I've saved up after buying this laptop I'll get it http://rockdiamond.c...wn-old-miner-cushion

So I have a thing for honey & brownie stones Wink

HI All!

Dot- you have very cool taste!
Some of the designs you picked are technical challenges- such as the two tone emerald ring- or the ice bridge baguette or even this last design.
All very nice.
I love the way the baguettes go down the side of the last ring.

I have never seen the time travelers wife.  My husband got it and it's still still sitting around waiting to be watched.
Oh the honey sally oval.  You are correct I adore that stone also.  I think set off by bright white stones, either as a halo or east/west with half moons (if you can picture that) would look stunning.  That miner cut brown stone is gorgeous.  I actually looked at that one.  But now I will not glance at it again.  It's yours in my mind.  I actually went through a phase when all I wanted was champagne stones or coffee colored ones.  Did you see that coffee colored heart that sold?  let me find the link.....
http://rockdiamond.c...ond-cool-brown-color
This color is to die for!
I don't know what I like better, this coffee color or the blue fluorescence, or pale yellow or honey.  This is why I can't decide on anything.

David!  Hello, thank you for gracing my mess of a thread with your presence.  I would/will have called you eventually.  I just don't know what I want yet.  My husband, Brian, swears if i don't decide soon he's just going to pick something out for me.  That just won't work at all.
I know most of my ideas are impossible but I want something unique.  I want people to stop me and grab my hand and stare.  They do that already with my current ring so why stop now.  And I apologize for the technical complications of my design requests.  Of course they are just rough ideas and the actual architecture of the rings would have to be made structurally sound by the designers.  I went through with that problem with my engagement ring.  The jeweler wanted to give me EXACTLY what I wanted so even though they had my stone and all the measurements the setting I had wanted wasn't sturdy enough for the size of the stone and within eight - nine months it was wiggling within the prongs and had to be complete redesigned and remade.  I was without my ring for another two months almost and it was at our one year anniversary.  The redesign turned out very nice but as you can see we have brought our business to a much nicer company, DBL!

The Emerald setting and Marquise are tied I think as my top choices.  (still kinda waiting to see if a pear shows up that stops my heart)  Brian thinks it will be impossible (and very costly) to find pear shaped rubies for side stones for the emerald setting.  And if anyone is wondering the ring setting is the Stroma from the maevona collection.  David, the prongs can be changed back to their original flow/design to make the structure sound if emerald ring is what I go with.  But, I am absolutely enamoured with the marquise east west setting that Mikla posted.  I think with that blue fluorescence marquise it would be divine.
The "ice bridge" concept ring i know you said it is a technical challenge but I still love it.  But that's ok.  I would only put you up to the challenge if you found me a pear that looked like ah2bquat's [urlhttp://rockdiamond.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-diamond-100-jvs2-pear-shape-gia-great-cut-strong-blue-that-you-can-see-r3420][/url] bluejay
It's the perfect pear.  It's the perfect stone really.

Ok,  It's about midnight here and I gotta in the morning so I'm done babbling.  Maybe tomorrow I'll be one step closing to making a decision.  Thanking everyone for all of your help and opinions.  I appreciate every single one one of them.

I tried to find more information.  Someone was talking about it somewhere.  I guess it is an E-W oval per some sites but a few people thought it was a marquise at one point?  I haven't seen the movie yet myself.  Just heard it discussed.  Not sure I could watch it after reading the book.

Oh that OMC type orangy-brownie is fair game.  I'm effectively broke after buying the laptop.  But if I had my way it would be set in a very simple setting.  Maybe an underwire w/ or w/o diamonds.  Set e-w.  I would want the focus to be on the stone and the unique shape of it.

I like that heart stone you posted.  Lovely look and color!  If you like brownies, have you noticed this one? http://rockdiamond.c...ld-cut-diamond-r3078

I hear you on not knowing which to pick though.  It is hard to decide.  I bet if you give David a call he can tell you what might be found and he's just fun to chat with in general.  The diamond I wound up with was not one listed, but is a perfect fit for me.  Now I'm stuck on a design myself which is good since it might be a while before we upgrade the setting.

I really love all the golden to brown shades out there.  That honey is my favorite color though out of all of them.  I do like strong blue flour but something about a golden color just makes me smile!

I haven't read the book either.  I should put it on my reading list.  Right now I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Is the Time Travelers Wife going to make me cry?  I cry when I read books, not even going to lie about it.
The brownie emerald is gorgeous but I think I'm leaning towards lighter stones.  Hmm like these

http://rockdiamond.c...2-gia--emerald-sides
http://rockdiamond.c...rade-up-special-r955

I think in the colored stones I like the paler shades.  Oh see I've figured something out at least.

And I found a DBL ring with the baguettes set in the shank like one of the rings I liked and posted above.  I was looking through their sold pages for ideas.
http://rockdiamond.c...cushion-diamond-ring

And just throwing this out there cause it's my favorite ring on the entire site but so not in my budget this year.

Oh I can look and dream though.  haha

Whats your favorite?

You know that square radiant with asscher side stones made me very sad when I saw it put on hold and then eventually sold Sad

I sooooo love that ring!  I do understand about wanting a lighter colored stones.  I am very drawn to all kinds of color, but for certain things I want certain colors.  Like that orangy brown OMC, I love it, but I wouldn't want it for an engaement/wedding ring.

I am going to do something I do with my husband when he cannot decide.  I'm way too indecisive so it doesn't work on me all the time Wink

But do not think.

Just clear your mind and answer the very first thing that comes to your mind.

What is your favorite color?
Do you like where you live?
What is your eye color?
What is the shape of stone that you want?

See if it works Wink

OH, HELLO.  Dot, that's one of my all time favorites.  I sing to it every so often.  I'm in the look-and-dream stage as well.  Too many projects yet to complete.  Good thing I've never seen it IRL.

Another favorite, in the honey and brownie category this time, is R2742 http://rockdiamond.c...mond-GIA-yellow-Ring.  Now, I DO like marquise cuts, but not yellow or brown stones.  (I'm Casper the Ghost white with pink undertones, and totally incapable of tanning.)  But I just adore this one - for no reason I can determine.  Go figure.

I love EW designs.
What about something like this, with the brownie oval?

It really sounds like you want something with strong fluor. though.
