..ok, fine...if you insist!

I was reading the trade-up policies, browsing through the sold section..you know, Housework Procrastination 101, when I had a weird little design idea, and wondered what you all thought..

We love colored diamonds here.  That's a no-brainer.  And I've noticed that there are a lot of repeat customers, both ones that add-on new pieces, and that trade-up on older ones.  One thing I haven't seen is a bunch of millionaires, though!  (If you are a millionaire, and I have overlooked you, my apologies!  Also, are you in need of a BFF/personal shopper?)  So, why not create a few "starter" pieces, simple ones, specifically for those of us who prefer quality and originality?  I don't know about you, but I would rather have one special $1K piece from DBL, than 100 $10 pieces that would probably gather dust in my jewelry box anyway.

Specifically, I was thinking of bezel-set rings, customizable by metal, and only in tinted/colored diamonds.  That way, if you purchased, say, a small yellow stack-able bezel ring, and loved how it looked, yet wanted something larger, you could trade it in for the same style but a larger diamond, up the road.  That would also give you something to wear and enjoy while saving up for a larger purchase!  Or, add more small rings to stack with your new yellow..or both!  That might even allow more of us to enjoy the rarer colors, such as blue (BLOO!!) or a vivid pink, or ::mops up drool:: you get my drift!  I've seen some very tiny yet very nice diamonds bezel set into stackers, and IMHO the style can be very pretty!

So am I all wet?  Or is that just the drool on my keyboard?

Even blue and pink melee seem to be pretty pricey compared to the other colors so I wonder how that would work for a $1k or less ring... Maybe 3 or 4 of the melee size scattered across the band?

I can definitely see stackers in brown, yellow, white, and modifiers of the same in the $1K range with a single bezel set stone. Any color would be good in the swiss cheese style of band at 1-2 mm, IMHO.  However...

Once you start getting to the blues and greens, the blues, at least, will probably have grey modifiers.  Max in the price range probably couldn't exceed .05 ct or so, and at that size will look much more grey than blue.  I can't say with complete certainty, never having seen her in a closed back, but I believe if Li'l Bloo was set with a closed back, her blooness would be much diminished.  I can say that she looks quite gloomy when I don't keep her sparkling clean.  pear

forgive me Ah2, but what is the color of lil' bloo and the stats if you please.

I wouldn't mind some stackables in different shapes. Or even different colors for that matter. But these days my diamonds are getting larger and larger, so anything for $1000.00 would probably be to small for me. Just call me stuck up.  Grin

In fact, the hubby seems to think I only want to go to NYC in october to trade up my engagement ring, when really, I hadn't given it any thought till he brought it up.....  Wink

Ok, ok,  so more than $1K, especially as the colors get progressively fancier Smiley My main idea is that the style be simple and more easily affordable/accessible, and that way if you were attached to, say, having a brown bezel-set stone, but wanted a little more rock on your finger as time went by, you could trade up for that same style, only fancier.

Of course, the beautiful stunning affordable brownish-greenish-yellow stone that sparked this idea is now part of a set of gorgeous daisy earrings  green  Daisies are even my favorite flower! ::sniff::  One of these days I will nab me a "hazel" diamond Wink

OH, my, saqsay!  What a delightful trip down all 13 pages of memory lane!  LOL  I was certain I had posted the stats somewhere, but darned if I can find 'em now!

so according to David, Li'l Bloo is aka R2920, .29 RAD FgB VS2

and GIA sez:
Cut Cornered Rectangular Modified Brilliant
4.19 x 3.16 x2.41 mm
0.29cts
Natural Fancy Greyish Blue

do you want the whole ring stats?  I'd have to dig out the insurance papers, first. but basically she's a size 6.5 ('with balls!', cried the Queen) platinum ring(my first, but not last!) in a Harry Winston style band featuring L'il  Blooo in a pink tutu(Pink diamonds in pink gold halo);  flanked by tiny little half moons, maybe .15cts together.

Perhaps not the most prepossessing e-ring  in the USA: but absolutely perfect in my eyes, for a huge bunch of different reasons.  She is a tiny but exquisite jewel.  The best and most perfect of my collection.

Thanks again for taking me down a road less travelled, saqsay1.  It was a delectable visit. *sigh*

Hmm daisy earrings. Gerbera daisies are my favorite flower, especially red ones. A chocolate brown EC and tiny ruby melee encrusted petals set in rose gold... Ohhh that would be amazing! I better start adding more pennies to my jewelry fund!

Ah2bqat, your Lil Bloo is one of the most unique, creative, and beautiful rings I've ever seen. It may not be the biggest ring out there but it has personality and character a thousand times it's size.

I fully admit that I am a wee bit jealous of your stone too.  I would love to have a bloo in that large of a size.  if I ever do I imagine it will have to be a teeny tiny stone.  Your bloo is so lovely Smiley

I too, am a big fan of The Bloo Wink  However, in a "sour grapes", I'll-never-be-able-to-buy-one-anyhow way, I've decided to set my greenie eyes on a nice yellow-y piece of Sunshine instead.  Heh heh  Evil No worries, Squigs, I'd never get Sunny on my big 'ol finger anyway!  But I do stare at her on your profile pic!!
