So, David gets a new ring back from the factory, takes dozens of photos and selects only the best. Both the ring and the photos will be art in their own right. Sometimes he even shoots a movie.  Wink

He posts the photos on CDI and what's the first thing we say?

"ooh, NICE ring! Can we see handshots please?"   Grin

If you're trying to chose between two or more rings, or just decide if something is right for you, it can really help to see it on a hand. It does give a slightly different perspective. We totally get that hand shots can be important. However, there are a few issues with that. Firstly, it's HARD to get good pictures of a ring on a hand. Anyone who has tried it will know. Secondly, there isn't anyone in the office with stock-sized female hands most days.

Anyway, the point is, David will do his best to accommodate requests for hand shots as quickly as possible, but it would really help if the requests were all in one place. When things are really busy, it can be hard to keep track of who wants to see which rings if the requests are all over the forum.

So in summary,  if you're thinking about a ring or deciding between rings or whatever and you'd like to see hand shots, please post your request here, quoting the stock number of the ring (eg R3029).

Same deal for ear-shots or neck shots.

Please bear with us if it takes a while, and please be understanding if the hand / ear / neck in question is a little hairier than maybe you'd hoped... Grin

I promise to check this thread regularly and I know David will too - that way no one will be disappointed or feel forgotten about if a request for hand shots has been overlooked on a busy day.

Thank you!

Jen

Can I please request hand shots of R2871 and R2728? Preferably on someone with normal sized hands not teeny tiny super model hands lol

Request noted! As I say, it may take a while and you take the hand model you get.  Grin

ETA I wouldn't worry so much about teeny tiny - you're more likely to get a giant man-hand...

Thanks for posting this Jen!!
It's an important subject, for sure.

What about if we got one of those hand mannequins?
I've resisted because it looks kind of...well, spooky to me.

But it would remove the timing issue. It's best if we have all the photos in hand prior to creating the listing.
Remember, our pages are all drawn by hand- in other words, it's not only that we take multiple photos of each new diamond, or ring, we also have to write the html that corresponds to the photos.

So adding a photo is another task that needs to be done.
Any change must be then made to not one HTML page- but two ( DBL and eBay)

The truth is, it's a labor of love, so it's not like I'm complaining about the work- it's simply a time issue. We're constantly buying new diamonds, and making new jewelry- all of which are time consuming.

Having said all that, all of us agree that hand shots improve the representation- and we want to include them.
Can I please request hand shots of R2871 and R2728? Preferably on someone with normal sized hands not teeny tiny super model hands lol

Uuuum, I swear I did not just add this one

That listing also had an incorrect price.
Which we'll honor if someone reading this wanted to buy it and lets us know.

David,
Im sorry! That was a blonde moment. I was looking at too many Daussi rings at once. I meant to ask for R2839 and R2871. Not R2728.

The hand mannequins are a little strange... might be ideal for this thread though? What do people think? Would you rather wait a while for your handshot, or see it on a mannequin?

I saw a site while looking for an idea for me, that used like black velvety hands.  They were the first hands that I saw that didn't look weird to me.  Gave a good idea of the size without looking freaky.  I don't want to post pictures of it as it comes from a site that sells them, but if you google black velvet mannequin hand I am sure you will find them Wink

Not sure how it would look on the site, but like I said they were noticably better than the flesh colored plastic ones I've seen.

I agree with Squiggly, Iīve seen those too. They give a good idea of size and proportion without being freakish. I donīt know how black velvet affects color, but itīs certainly way better than no handshots. :-)

Or David could employ me to try on all his rings and take photo's, and update his web page etc, all I need is a room somewhere with Breakfast, Dinner and Supper. And then I woke up.   Evil Grin  angel

Some gorgeous, gorgeous rings popping up here! R3952 is a particular favourite of mine, oh, and R3744. They're all stunning, and they look beautiful on the hand model.

Gorgeous!

I really like R3744.  If I'd won the Euromillions last night I'd have snapped it up!

We had a ticket but unfortunately it wasn't us!  The winner has yet to come forward and claim their winnings, perhaps it still hasn't sunk in yet.

I don't want much - just enough to pay off all our bills, to put aside for my daughters' college educations,  maybe new cars, and a few pretties. Not much.... less than a mil would do but much more would be better.  Evil

Can I be a big ole mean bully here?

Hand shot requests only on this thread, or I shall stamp my feet and shout and have a tantrum that would make your average two year old look on in awe...

Seriously - I don't want to overlook a request, so it's easiest to stay on top of it if we keep this thread on-topic please.

Sorry for being an officious, self important jobsworth and thanks for your understanding. Wink
