Hi!

I´ve spent a few months looking through diamonds and rings trying to see what I want (and what I can afford!) I think I finally have a pretty good idea of what I want to do!  Grin

I have a few questions though...

I zeroed in on a FLY .63 ct radiant that I really love. I´d like to put it on layaway before it disappears. I read on the DBL website that a 50% deposit is required and then 1/6th per month until its paid off. Is that right?

I´m absolutely sure I want the double bezel Squiggly mount but I´d like it all in 18k yellow gold. The prices listed are for 14k and platinum so Í´m assuming that 18k is somewhere in the middle, but I´d like to know how much exactly so I can budget that too.

I´d also love to see a video of this baby.

http://rockdiamond.c...ne-great-price-r4142

Thank you!!

Also, would this ring be upgradable? I´d definitely be interested in doing that in 3 years for my 10th anniversary!  heart2
I have to keep editing, I´m so excited I´m making all kinds of mistakes, posted the wrong link!

Hi Ptymon...... I love that FLY radiant. Good size and to me it actually looks more like a FY. Are you reffering to Squigly's ring? I love that double bezel. My you do have good taste..... I say go for it!

About the DBL upgrade, D is very good about working with his customers on upgrades. I have upgraded a Y-Z 2.09 radiant to a 2.25 FY Pear shape. David even custom made the mount for me (the princess mount in the semi mount section, the yellow pear is mine ).

Thanks Saqsay, I was actually thinking of this semi mount:

http://rockdiamond.c...h-split-shank-so3924

I forgot to post the link. I´m thinking the split shank will give the ring a little more presence on the hand, plus I plan to wear it alone as a RHR and don´t really want the look of an ER. I also like that it seems lower set. I´m just sorry I probably can´t get a handshot of a ring in that setting. I never saw the pear used in the semi mount listed for sale...

Hello! Nice choice, if I may say so!

You're correct about the layaway terms, and yes, the centre stone would be upgradeable. Why not email me or David if you'd like to talk about setting  - we can usually offer a bit of a deal for fellow CDI folks. Wink

I love the clgwli setting - it looks like liquid gold!

Well obviously I think you picked a great setting Wink  I do think that a split shank should help make it look more like a RHR than an engagement style.

Jen is right, the rings are like liquid gold.  I had my stone reset in April of this year - and I still am looking at it all the time.  Get so many comments on it too from everyone.  My stone is a Y-Z so I imagine this FLY will look amazing in it.

I had nothing really to add about upgrades or the like, but I just had to say I love the diamond you chose and of course the setting Grin

Wowweee, Saqsay! Guess you won´t be needing another upgrade. There´s nothing you could possibly upgrade to! Gorgeous!

I´ll do just that then, Mrs. M. As soon as I get in from work!  Grin

Why ever would you say that Squiggly???  Grin I always loved bezels but this double bezel deal is making me crazy! It´s so beautiful. I never particularly liked halos because they don´t fit my lifestyle, but this seems just perfect.  I was kind of thinking of doing the inner bezel in yellow and the outer in white. Give the ring a little contrast. What do you think?

I admit I always loved the way halos looked on my hands, but I was not very sure of doing it for myself.  I was afraid of losing melee just because of a bad experience I had with a vintage ring.  The small diamonds always came loose.  Even after trying to fix the actual setting once they came loose.  I realize now that it had more to do with a faulty ring than me, but it kind of stuck with me.

So I really wanted something that would have the same feel but without the worry.  I was back and forth about the bezel around the diamond.  In the end as soon as I did a mock up of the double bezel with my diamond I *knew* it as right.  I particularly loved the idea of making the cut corners stand out even more than before.

I can't say how many compliments I get from total strangers.  It makes my Y-Z radiant look like a FY in most lighting and sometimes I swear even more so.  The stone sparkles like mad in it.  So I highly recommend for anyone who wants a low maintenance halo Wink

I've seen a double bezel with the inner and outer colors being different.  I do like it a lot!  I think it will give a good visual contrast to the split shank.  It would be a neat modern look for a RHR!

Lovecolor, did you ever get the white diamond bezel ring done? I seem to remember you saying you were going to add a stacking ring to your beautiful yellow. If you did, I´d just love to see how they look!

Yes, and I  love the big facets in the Daussi diamond !  I've taken some pictures, but not really pleased with them, that's why I haven't' posted them yet.

I'll try to take new ones later to show you how pretty they look together.  Smiley

Mrs. M, David (anyone? everyone?)

do you think I could trouble you for some measurements on the double halo split shank?
I´m trying to envision the mount but I´m not really sure how it might look.

Could I please have guesstimates as to shank width (each half shank and the full shank)
and also of the double bezel. I think Squiggly had told me once that the double bezel added about 1.5 mm on each side, would that be about right on this one too?

thank you!!

Oh and Squiggly, I keep looking at the Hal-1 setting and second guessing myself. We´ll see what happens from here to March when I finally get to set it!  Smiley

Well, here's one picture that is not sooooooo bad...I just can't seem to capture the sparkle of both diamonds in one shot.  I'll try again later.  They both really do look great together in person!

The oval is a yellow fancy diamond, .71 cts. and the causion is a white Daussi, .76 cts, G in color.     Here's another picture, a little closer up, but still not great.  (sorry)  Embarrassed   I also attached the white Daussi so you can see the cool facets in the diamond...

I love love love those together!!!  Getting the sparkle is so hard let alone trying for 2 rings at the same time.

PtyMom, I went back and forth about a bezel vs the Hal1 for a long time.  I really did love the look of a halo but knew it wasn't my kind of lifestyle.  I think I decided a halo is more suited (for me and my life) on a gemstone ring.  Maybe some day I will own a pretty halo sapphire or something like that.  Something about the double bezel just seems perfect and I really do love the split shank version of it.

The bezel does add a decent amount to the stone.  I know I've said it but it did go from 6.34 x 5.15 mm to about 9.5 x 8.3mm which is fairly substantial!  Halos will do the same though.

I think it will come down to what kind of person you are.  Neither is right or wrong.  I love the fluid lines of the double bezel with split shank in particular... looks like liquid gold.  I'd do it again if I didn't care about wearing the exact same style on both hands at the same time Grin

woooweee lovecolor that Daussi is magnificent. I totally get you, it's so hard to capture what you're seeing in pictures!  They do look beautiful together though. I bet you wear them all the time  Smiley I would.

Thanks Squiggly. Now I have to find a beautiful gemstone that I can set into a diamond studded halo!  Evil Let's say a pinkish purple sapphire... devildance

I totally know what you mean about lifestyle though. Everytime I think about a halo I realize that I wouldn't be able to wear it on a daily basis. Whereas with the double bezel all gold look, I probably would retire the rest of my RHRs!  Grin

...I'm dying to see what this will look like size-wise. I really wanted a FLY so I ended up going slightly smaller than I would've wanted. I visited a local jeweler and tried on a radiant that was practically the same size as my stone and it looked OK, although a double bezel booster shot would surely help matters! Thanks for holding my hand !! (I'm going to have you and all the CDI community yanking their hair out by March with all the back and forthing!)

Thanks guys...I have to say, I've been wearing my DBL stackers every single day since I got them.  The compliments keep coming probably because they are simple and fun looking together.  Maybe a third stacker...possible pinky in color, might be in order.  I don't think I can wear all three together...but to change up the colors might be fun too.  Wink
