Hi Shining People!

I would like to to buy an eternity ring but are they exclusive for women and married couple?

I remember a situation once when I had a sterling silver band ring with cz's and I had that plated in yellow gold and it was nice and I was ordering at Mc Donalds and this long time high school crush was there taking my orders and she had a dissapointed look when she saw  the band ring I'm wearing and after that I never worn anything that symbolizes I'm taken.

Also does anybody here have seen natural zircon and compared them to moissanite and is there a difference on their beauty?

Hey PF. I got to ask, were you wearing the ring on your left 4th finger? Personally, if the ring was on your right hand or L middle finger you'd be okay. I'm of the thought process that the left 4th finger is reserved for the the person you are committed to and does symbolize that you are taken. (JMO) I also believe that the style of ring (i.e. eternity band) symbolizes whatever you want it to symbolize provided that the left 4th finger rule is followed. So--I say: GO FOR IT! (and...go back to that McDonald's and ask that girl out!!!)

Hello there!

The main difference between Moissanite and Zircon is that one's natural and one's man-made.  If you don't mind wearing a man-made stone then Moissanite can be nice and is highly refractive but considering it's not natural I always feel that it's expensive - although I appreciate that the manufacturing costs are high.  However, for me (and this really is just me being a snob!) I don't like man-made stones as they don't have the mysticism of being in the earth for thousands of years, being mined, cut, polished etc.  Zircon on the other hand is natural and, if well cut, can be almost as sparkly as a diamond.  If cut badly though Zircon can be cloudy and won't have any impact at all.

In terms of wearing a ring - more men nowadays are wearing jewellery and so long as it's not on your wedding finger you shouldn't have any problems!!!   Wink

Thanks a lot my dear...

I wore the ring on my fourth finger and the girl no longer works in Mc Donalds and I don't know where she is... That has been a long time ago...

Now I can safely wear eternity bands so that I can SHINE more...

Thanks for the advice however natural zircon has about the same refractive index as rubies and sapphires and diamonds and moissanite will have more brilliance. And the good thing about natural zircon is that they are doubly refractive just like the moissanite and they are way cheaper than moissanite too!

We shared the same sentiments about natural gems. I only treasure natural gems and I wear man made gems as accessories that won't break my heart if they are gone, damaged while climbing a cliff.

Whoops!  Undecided Just want to clear this up a bit...  On the scale of Refractive Index (RI), here are the above mentioned gems and their RIs:

Corundum (Rubies and Sapphires): 1.76-1.77
Zircon:  1.92-1.98.
Diamond: 2.42 (diamonds have one RI with no range)
Synthetic Moissanite:  2.65-2.69

I would not say that any of these are "about the same" as any other.  Each has its own advantages and disadvantages!   One disadvantage of Zircon is it's lower hardness.  That means that over time it might show wear and abrasions more readily than Synthetic Moissanite, which is harder.
