Talk about  total KNOCKOUT!!
This one is a bit lighter- which I do not mind one bit- it's SOOOOO Lively.
It weighs 4.42carats, and measures 10.1 x 7.4 x 5.8mm
$10,995

This is a really unusual cut for a Sapphire- requiring a lot of waste from the rough- but an AMAZING outcome.....

Second setting for a DBL sapphire . . . what do you think?

 Huh? Mikla

Mikla, this is of course JMO, but I love the first setting (the cushions)-- it looks sturdy and substantial, as well as proportionate.  (I particularly like the slightly wider band on that one.)  In the second (again, JMO!), the center stone seems disproportionate to the sides.  Although the little side stones are pretty, I think they would be suited to a much smaller stone.

Thanks, Robin!  With the scissor cut stone, it seems too large to me to have substantial side stones.  I agree that the smaller stones are kind of lost here, so how would you set the scissor cut sapphire as a one stone ring, but not as plain as a simple solitaire setting?  I am thinking that the band would have to be somewhat fancy.

I would take all of those...but the scissor cut one needs a more substantial setting as that is a serious stone.

I love these sapphires. That radiant cut emerald shape is absolutely amazing. These are breathtaking. I think I need to fly up to NY.

Here's number two...
4.86ct

$29900

Both stones are remarkable.
The 4.86 just has a deeper color- which some might not even find preferable- but it does affect the price.

I actually think I prefer the first one!  David, I'm thinking that it would be INCREDIBLE set as a three-EC ring, with white diamonds on the sides-- but is it too wide for that?  IOW, you'd need pretty good-sized diamonds to make the look proportionate, so would the finished ring be too wide for a typical woman's finger?

Last month, I tried on a really lovely 6ct. oval sapphire with trills at T's-- the proportion worked really well on my hand (REALLY well... oh, yes, a 6ct sapphire looked goooood on my hand  Cheesy.  But I digress.)  I wonder how trills would look with this EC??

ETA: this is one of those times when I really envy David.  If I were he, I would spend my morning trying out different combos of sidestones with these sapphires, singing happily to myself....   Cheesy

I found a pic of a VERY large sapphire (this one is 21 ct.!!) set with sidestones.  See how they're set at a steep angle relative to the center stone?  David, what do you think of that?

Wow Robin- that's a huge ring!!

Lovely color- and the design is very pretty....but I'd be afraid to wear it!
It sits up so high on the finger- I can't imagine it would be comfortable...
BTW- I thnk I like the first sapphire better too!

Anyone want to see some PINK Sapphires?

Sure.

I'll probably get fired for this comment...but...here goes. Why do I think that yellow and pink sapphires are yellow and pink diamond "wanna bes"?
I don't feel this way about the blue sapphires, just the yellow and pinks.

Okay--no one throw anything at me... 1224

David, are you going to make me clean your office? If you are...DJ told me to post this.

As you might guess, I don't agree.  I think they can be lovely-- especially the pinks.  Hey, that reminds me... I don't have any pink sapphires! (Oh, wait.  I don't have any extra money, either.  Well, poo.  Wink

A girl can dream, though!  David, show us what you've got!

I feel the same way about the yellows, but not the pinks . . . weird, huh?  I think it's because the yellows I have seen aren't as different from yellow diamonds as pink sapphires are from pink diamonds.
