david

Do you have measurements for the 2.42ct pink cushion sapphire?

YEs, we've gotten the sapphire back in house.
It's 7.25 x 7.05 x4.55

OK, I'm back on the cushion. OK, so it's got size. OK, so I'm wobbly at the knees. I just love the color.

Glad to see you're back on board WM. *PHEW* I thought we lost you there for a moment.

Now, I'm thinking BIG, fat, step-cut shields or homeplate-cut near-colorless diamonds for sides... Or, if you really want to get into it, some colorless stones (baguettes?) bezel-set all around for a low, art deco style ring. OR, colorless, short-rectangularish to wedge-shaped baguettes bezel-set almost all around and, then, throw in two longer/bigger medium blue sapphire baguettes on the sides for fun.  Let's see, what else can we do here...

Hummm, good visual OMC! Also, I thought something similar to this might work... (sorry, the quickie illustration is gross).

T-this is too funny, I was drawing something very similar for the pink cushion today and even pricing purple sapphire tapered baguettes for it this morning!!!  Kind of scary, I guess great minds think alike  Grin

OMC-I love the one you posted as well.

No, WM, she's not mine.  Just a test drive! Besides, I'm usually a less-is-more type of ring wearer (that translates to your basic three-stone).  This would have been something I'd have worn 10 years ago, for sure. Perhaps a little nostalgia isn't all that bad...

DL, the baguettes are a bit more purply than I'd intended, but that's ok!  I had just a couple of colored pencils handy, and not exactly what I wanted, so all the colors are funky. If youlike the stone, then GO FOR IT gal! I'd love to see what you do.

Yes, we have SO MANY great minds around here!

Here's number one...
5.01ct

 david

Remember this guy?  I went back through this thread because you know I like the step-cuts, and found him again.  I'm sure you've sent this guy back by now, but he's starting to call my name.  Only thing is, if it were even still available, the picture makes it look like one of the cuts underneath has a symmetry problem.  Can you tell?

My mother's engagement ring! Only, hers has quite a dark blue centre.  I love that design.

I have a sapphire that I would like to share.  I purchased this for my 50th birthday, and I am beginning to think that I am the oldest person on this form!

Mikla, Here's your stats:

18kt yellow gold with platinum heads
Sapphire: 1.87 carats
Two diamonds: 0.33cwt, G SI1, RB

About this ring: 4
I purchased the stone, then had it set; but didn't much like it after I owned it.  I would have it cleaned while browsing in various stores, and I always received enthusiastic comments when it was returned.

I finally figured out the problem; Huh? it clashed with my red nail polish!  So ladies, when you are considering a colored stone, the color of your nail polish may greatly influence your perception.  You may be concentrating on the stone, but your brain is processing the entire package. Smiley

Yes you`re right OCD. I don`t wear nail polish because it has formaldehyde in it ( they use it to preserve dead bodies ewwwwww !) but I had some earrings which I loved but never seemed to look right. Then I figured it was because they simply didn`t match my eye colour, silly as that may sound.
I still love the earrings but gave them to my sister because she has blue eyes, I have dark brown and they look fabulous on her. Strange how as you say, you take the whole picture.

The only reason I get away with calling Gramps by that name (terribly disrespectful, I know) is because I'm right behind him... I'll be 50 next year (aghhhhhhhhh!) That makes me a '59er.  bunny7

Note: The cut on my left hand is healing nicely, and Lucy has not climbed the additional fencing and escaped the yard.   Smiley
