I saw a post from DBL on Facebook about offering refurbishing services. What does that mean?

Yes- we can repair- or remake parts for fine jewelry pieces, in some cases.
What are the specifics?
Of course if you want to email us, or call that's fine

Along the lines of refurbishing I have an alteration question.  David, in any universe is it possible to take a pendant with a large-ish bale (that has micropave on the front) and make it into an enhancer?  Kind of retrofit it and make the back of the bale more clasp-like?  Or does that require the making of a whole new piece?

How long is a piece of string?

I'll quote someone from another forum: "anything can be done - the problem is how much it costs"...

you crack me up.

yes, cost is a factor!  but as I am not knowledgeable in this area I didn't know if this was something that was, "sure!  we do that all the time!"  or "whooooo, boy.  yeah, I guess that could be done, but it would be more cost effective to just have a new piece made."

I'm guessing it's the latter, but I've been pleasantly suprised before!

The pendant that matches my ruby is on it's way to me now and I had been thinking of stringing pearls around it (something like those add a pearl necklaces so there was a chain involved) for when I want it to be dressy.  Then someone on another forum popped up with an enhancer and I was all, "by JOVE!  That's the ticket!"  I'm just not sure that's possible to do after the fact.  In which case if anyone needs me I'll be in the corner stringing pearls....

It sounds eminently feasible - but the devil is in the detail. If you can post a picture of what it is like now, I think David would be able to give you a much better idea if it is really feasible and at what rough cost.

BTW - careful with enhancers around pearls. The nacre is quite soft. Make sure there is enough clearance between the pearls to set the clasp in without rubbing.

I will say that in many cases, it's far easier- and less costly- starting from scratch as opposed to trying to fix a piece.

One item I have emailed you about is my OEC wedding ring. The center stone mount is messed up and I hope it is fixable. I love this ring and I would be sad if I had to replace it. I would be even sadder if I lost the center stone though.
