Well, I must say, NY is an experience in itself.  Talk about busy city!

David was so kind to take time from his day to see us.  I will post a few of the stones we looked at and give commentary.  Great experience, talk about kid in a candy store.  I could have spent the day just looking at all the different stones.

More to come later....

I actually ended up with a crab cake salad and hubby got a burger, both excellent!    And a couple of oysters and a couple of drinks.  With Fashion week happening at Lincoln Center, we got a front row seat to the fashionistas leaving one of the shows.  Not that I actually would know who any of them were.  Wink  The paps were pretty funny to watch as they swarmed though.  I have to check out the trash mags now.

And the office, well, good thing we came to help him clean that messy desk!  Grin

ok, the oranges....

This little guy is part of the messy desk shot.  A perfect tangerine, orange crush sparkler.  Amazing colour.  luscious  Do you have orange crush in the US?  It is an orange soda, like Fanta.

I think this was the other orange one, in person more orange than yellow in the picture, darker orange than the one above

The garnet, nice size for a ring.  More life in person than the picture shows.  Another perfect orange crush.

The Tsav, me not being much of a green person, this is a nice vibrant yet still dark green.  The trilliant shape would make a nice pendant.

Oh, and the little ruby.  Amazing dark, yet still bright, blood red and quite transparent.  The maul crap 'round here is opaque-ish. Very pretty stone.

And one that I don't see listed, a very pretty oval emerald with good size.  Lighter than the Tsav, fairly transparent and quite deceiving as the inclusions are not obvious.

The honkers...

Hubby nearly blew his lid when David handed him the 6ct Bulgari ring and told him how much it is worth.
Yup, this one.  And yes, I put it on....for a while.  Wink

And this one is AMAZING.  The picture does nothing for this stone.  We both were stunned by it.

In looking for a stone for hubby, here are a few we looked at.

I think this is the brown, bit deep for our purpose but a nice stone.  Looks a little off center in the picture, but didn't notice anything in person.

Looked at DJM's baguette.   Great stone!

And this little guy...

Gosh, what else?  I am sure there are ones I am forgetting.

I think this is Nantam's. It looks obviously baby pink in person, such a dainty stone.

Played with a couple rough diamonds.  Really cool.  Not at all what I thought they would feel like.  So smooth but look rough.  They really would be great worry beads.

This is a gorgeous ring.  Feels substantial but still feminine.

A super cute pair of fancy yellow rounds, might be from that desk shot too.  And a couple of pear rings.

And David, what are the odds of finding light yellow Trap side stones? Somewhere in the U-X range?

And just what are you doing with that beautiful little stone?  Grin

Some day I am going to NYC by myself just to look at everything.   I bet some of those gemstones were amazing to see in person!  I know they can be hard to capture on film.  I'm jealous of all you got to see and play with!

haha, you got me.  Grin
It will be going into a band for hubby.  I just need to pick a ring design.  Actually maybe djm can help as he has been through this quest.  Hubby thinks it is pretty cool, especially since it is the Texas Longhorns colour.

That will make a great ring with a stone that size!  What style is your husband (or you) looking at?

I won't comment on Texas though since they beat us 2 of the 3 times we played them... though only by 3 in the last minute the last time :p

I could have stayed longer!  Poor hubby's eyes were starting to glaze over, so it was time.

How about this for hubby?

This stone 4.70 x 3.0

Set like this, north/south, in a 7mm width

That is exactly what I was picturing.  Maybe a straight jacket too.

Erm, ladies, please remind me not to go and visit David when you are around, just in case someone gets confused. I hate straitjackets. And drooling.
