Just a question about something i've been thinking about for a while. My grandmother had 2 rings, and before she passed she had promised one to my mother and another to my other aunt. Well, things have changed quite a bit and she didn't leave much of a will concerning those things so.....

I'm not sure my mom will even get the ring, which she also promised me too :/ ( it was to be passed to me after my mom passes away to keep it in the family, it belonged my my grandfathers mother). So, since i wont be able to keep either of those things in the family i asked my mom if i could have her engagement ring setting. It was just a plain plat. setting ( tiffany style i think). It was cut off of her finger around the time she went into hospice, so the setting is kind of messed up. I was just wondering if it would be at all possible for you guys to melt the the setting down and make a wedding band out of it. And if it was possible, about how much something like that would cost.

Anyway! just wanted to gather up some information about it Smiley I thought it would a really nice idea/thing to have......

What a lovely sentiment Blueskeye!
I'm sure that there are people who do this sort of thing.

For us it would be very difficult.  The casting of gold is a complex process-much easier done in bulk than on a single ring level.  We do not cast one piece at a time for this reason.
Still, your question is a good one, and one that many people have.  I'm sure that someone somewhere does exactly what you looking for
