I think I'm getting old.

Someone asked what the halo on a Hal1 setting measures and I said I'd measure mine and get back with the answer.

I cannot find the thread - I think I'm losing the plot here. Sorry.

Anyway, the halo on my oval Hal1 setting, including the bezel around the centre diamond measures almost exactly 3mm. Obviously this is approximate, since I had to use a measuring tape rather than callipers, but it's right around the 3mm mark.

Hope this helps!

that would be me!!  thanks so much for measuring yours. So that would mean to add 6mm to the stone size for the final size of the ring. That would make even a smaller stone look large. That really helps to picture it on my finger. thanks again!!

You're welcome! Sorry for starting a new thread, i could not for the life of me find the one with the original request.

It does add a fair bit of size - I was surprised that it's as much as it is when I measured it! I got my husband to measure actually, he's better at things like that, so it's more likely to be accurate!

The diamond I have in that setting is only 69 points, making it my smallest diamond ring, BUT it looks like a much, much bigger stone on my hand. It isn't just the extra size of the halo, but a sort of optical illusion goes on there too - the diamond looks bigger than its true measurements. It does face up big for its weight, but still, it looks much more substantial in the halo.
