Well I tried on the pink purple one. And it's gorgeous. But I would pick the pear because I have a 3-stone emerald cut ring. So it would not be a hard choice for me simply because I would want something different on my right hand than what's on my left. But I don't expect you to choose based on what I have on my hand. <grin>

They are both stunners!  I would probably reset the radiant in a halo if it were me to give it a little more size, but that is just my thing.  I think the pear is phenomenal!  Set with white pear sides and that leaf design on the shank would be out of this world!!!  Cannot wait to see what you pick Badduck!

Thanks David for the extra pictures.

We went to the stores yesterday and the 0.72 carat is a little small. We may have to see it in person to get the actual size of the ring against her finger.

We may also want to see your best asscher cut between the range of 1.5 to 1.75 carat.

We are planning on a trip to NY either Memorial weekend or mid June. I'll let you know when we visit you way ahead of time.

Hope that is ok with you.

Note: What is the diamond difference between big stores like Tiffany, DeBeers and local stores like yourself other than the price?

Is it the diamond cut?

Thanks

HI Badduck,
We do not have an "store" other than the one on the Internet.
We might frame the question this way:
How do you compare:
*The high line, big-name stores, such as Tiffany's, Cartier, etc,
*National, or large regional chain stores such as Zales
*Tradional "Mom and Pop" local stores
* THE INTERNET- which, in itself contained many different venues.
We exist in the last category, the Internet.  This allows us to give a lot of the best aspects of the other three options I listed.

There are specific things, when we compare ourselves to someone like Tiffany's, which they offer and we cannot.  Mostly, it has to do with the great feeling involved with the address, and the lovely store interiors.
In terms of merchandise, it's a different story.  The quality of the merchandise, we offer, is comparable to the big "high line" boys

The only thing we really have in common with the large chain stores, is the fact that the Internet does allow us to sell in quantity.  Of course, not, the kind of quantity that a Zales does- but enough to make the cutters sit up and take notice.

In many ways, this company is like a mom and pop in that the owners of the company look at every single piece that gets shipped.

We be happy to discuss an appointment, please call anytime.

Thanks David.

Well, I went to Tiffany and DeBeers yesterday and smaller stores like Bailey Banks .. etc

What we found is that the diamond quality / cut at DeBeers far outrank Tiffany and Bailey Banks .. etc

I am amazed as how they manage to get such brilliance in the diamonds.

I do know that you an internet store with such a great price and excellent customers satisfaction and thats the reason why I am considering your store.

How do you look at a diamond and compare it with other stores? I have been to countless stores with the same clarity and color and most of it looks different from one another.

I would love to setup an appointment if we do go down to NY.

I just want to make sure that the ring I am getting fits perfectly with her finger. We have tried so many and we pretty much narrow it down to an asscher cut or a pink diamond.

Thanks again.

Comparable? He's being modest. Ours is made by the same factory. Ours in more individual and less cookie cutter. I've seen it. I've tried it on. I own several pieces. I'm spoiled for life. So I'd say we're way over the top. More "new classic" and less trendy.

Badduck,
When I visited family in NYC last year I spent a happy couple of days checking out the Diamond District and every other jewelry store I could find, from mom and pop to ultimate brand names / high end. I saw some amazing pieces, truly incredible. I also visited David and I can honestly say that the quality of DBL pieces is up there with the very highest and the design is second to none. I really mean that- you aren't going to find better, in my opinion.

I hope you can set up an appointment with David and see what I mean in real life! I also hope you're both enjoying the search for your perfect ring and having fun!

Badduck, those who know me know that my decision-making process can be long and arduous.  Roll Eyes  And, I am very persnickity. To the point where people would like to wring my neck, I'm afraid!

As part of my diamond ER hunt, my now-husband and I went EVERYWHERE, from the Blue Box store to Mall-based chain jewelers, to mom and pop jewelers, to second-hand and antique stores. We covered hundreds of miles looking. I studied and tried on ALL sorts of diamond rings, ranging in price from a few thousand dollars up to $400K (OK, so the sales gal wanted us to have some fun!). And, from my experience, I've learned that you can find THE diamond at Cartier and you can find THE diamond at the mom and pop place in town.  You just have to do the legwork. And, you have to be educated enough to know what you are REALLY seeing, regardless of what you are told.

But, also, you can find a dull, lifeless $400K diamond just as easily as you can find a dull and lifeless $2K diamond. I have seen them. Same thing with the setting work.  For example, I found a to-die-for ring at the blue box store. Everything was exquisite, the stones were beautiful, the setting work was precise (but, it was way beyond our price range, so it remained at the store after we left).  Months later, we returned to the store, and I tried on another ring of the same style and similar size. It looked NOTHING like the first.  The stones were not lively and they were set poorly, with big gaps between them.

Also, you may find a "branded" diamond that you really like.  Or calibrated stones that you like.  But, remember, you pay a super-premium for those qualities. You CAN find stones with equal or better performance and price if you look.

To me, the difference is that with DBL, David has done the legwork.  He's culled through the dull and lifeless diamonds to find only the best of the bunch, in every price category.  And, as I've said here before, my custom setting is every bit as good, if not better, than the best that I've seen anywhere. I get more compliments – from jewelers, no less – regarding my DBL ring than any other piece I wear. And it was NOT a break-the-bank piece.

So, I think that if you know what you want, David can make it happen. You won't be disappointed. Hey, I'm jealous... sounds like you're going to have a fun trip to the city!

(YoooHooo... David,  Grin I'll be getting my commission check in the mail, right?  dontknow)

Badduck, how can it NOT turn out well?  Best case scenario you find the diamond of your dreams. Middle of the road scenario, you meet your go-to guy for diamonds. Worst case scenario, you come away even more educated that you already are.  You'll have a blast.

Hi all,
Sorry I was not clear- we promised badduck a photo of this diamond- this 1.02carat is still available.

We are trying to find a time for badduck to come to visit- but there's also a great possibility we'll be able to work through the mail ( or UPS as it were)

It's a common question we get asked
"Can I come and see the diamonds?"

In fact, very few people do come here- mainly because we have taken so many efforts to make it very easy to purchase from afar.
That, and the fact we work out of the second floor men's room at Grand Central Station- which would make it uncomfortable for his lady Evil

Ok, I get it now.  So, it's still safe for me to lust after the pink radiant. *PHEW*

Yeah, I just hate that men's room location... especially because I can't go inside there (well, actually, even in a Grand Central Station men's room, if I knew David's diamonds were in there, I'd go for it...)  1224
