Hey DBL

I am looking for a light pink diamond preferably the following:

Carat: 1 or more
Shape: Emerald / Asscher cut

Carat: 0.75 or more
Shape: Round

If you have any of these, do let me know via email. I have roughly at least 3 months before the D-Day.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Badduck, thanks for dropping in. If I found a 1ct pink Asscher or emerald cut, I'd certainly think that I'd died and gone to heaven!  And a well-cut pink round... to die for.  I hope you find what you're seeking. No easy task I'm sure, but if anyone can find them, David can.  Please, I'd love to hear what you have in mind (I'm always living vicariously through the diamond projects of others)! Welcome.  hello

Hi Badduck,
Wow- it sounds like some project!
Many people who write us to ask about pink diamonds are unaware of their stratospheric prices.
A nice one carat light pink emerald cut could easily cost $50,000

We do have a few really nice pinks, but not in round or emerald cut
This is one of my favorites!

Badduck, good luck with your search. The ring that David posted is a lot of people's favourites, mine included.

I'm currently saving up to buy it, and I reckon it will be mine in 39.8 years... Grin

Are you looking for an engagement ring? Sounds like you're looking for something really special - please do let us know what you pick.

Thanks all for the wonderful advice and responses.

We did look at the diamonds offered at DBL website and none interest her at all  Huh?

She is looking for a "BLUE" diamond that is rather clear somewhat like the picture below. It is a 0.35 carat and I think its too small.

I managed to introduce her to a pink diamond instead of a blue since blue is super expensive  Grin

If you do come across any clear pink diamond as opposed to blink blink pink diamond, please do let me know.

I do have 3 to 4 months. Planning on proposing to her when the house settles.   Wink

thanks all
duck

Duck,

New inventory comes in practically every day. Also, given a price range to work with, David can find almost anything you could want. Just don't settle...I am sure you both will find something that you'll love.

Thanks djm!!
Duck, one thing a lot of folks do is call, and we look over the website together.
I'll bet there's some things she did not see yet.....

If you meant step cut as "clear" as opposed to "blink blink" here's one we had recently

this one was part of a pair- I'd estimate this pair of stones to sell for well over $50k today....

Here's another thing to keep in mind:
when folks had in mind to shop now, for a purchase that is a few months off, I give them this analogy:
Diamonds, especially rare and fancy colored diamonds, can be compared to real estate- that is to say each one is unique and has its own properties that are different from others.
Say you want to buy a house in four months, and started shopping today.  Let's say the first house, you look at is your "dream house"... but you're not ready to purchase for four months.  This puts you in a kind of bad position.  When you're actually ready to buy, the house you first saw as likely sold- and in many cases, it presents an unattainable goal for the new houses you're considering.

So, if someone is looking for a one carat round D/VS1, the research they did today would be pertinent in four months.  But someone looking for a pink diamond, would not be able to make the same statement.  If they found a diamond today, there is no guarantee they can find anything like it in four months

Thanks DBL.

Thats a super nice pink diamond  you got there. 0.33 HMMM ...

We'll go through the shape and sizes this weekend at our local stores to get an idea how big a diamond size and shape is that will fit her hand nicely.

I'll definately call you in the next few weeks or so.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Duck,
the pink diamond is actually part of a three diamond set

We made a very special ring for the stones...

The ring is no longer available ( I gave it to my fiancé), but I would say that a pair like the ones below, in today's market, could possibly bring 100,000 per carat, or $60 K for the pair.

Remember, these are pure pink of an intense shade.
Both are GIA graded, one is Fancy Intense Pink, the other Fancy Intense Purplish Pink.  Both are VS2 clarity.

David,

After visiting some stores, we finally finalized to a couple of options.

Option 1
------------
The leaf band will go well with the pear sides and the 1.12CT light pink pear diamond you have on your website

Option 2
------------
A white 2 ct asscher cut on a vintage band with side stones (trillian or asscher). Band based on your design collection

Option 3
-----------
Your 0.72 ct pink diamond that you have listed on your website. Does it match well with a leaf band (attached) or a good vintage band

Please let me know of your thoughts and ideas.

HI Everyone!
Badduck, let's go over the options one by one.....
1) Putting white pear shapes on the side of the light pink pear sounds like a great ring idea!
We have a similar hand engraved design.

Option two sounds beautiful as well.
I prefer to use step cut stones on the side of an Asscher...

Option 3 would also be quite nice in a pink gold/platinum hand engraved ring.

The three ideas present three totally different scopes.  Obviously, number two would be the largest.  In many cases, size is an important consideration.

Option one, would give you very nice finger coverage, and a beautiful diamond that people will recognize as pink- believe me, she'll love it when people say " OOOH look, a pink diamond!"

Option three, is the most delicate of all, and would have the pinkest diamond.

Which do you think suits her best?

PS: sorry it took so long for me to respond.  I was thinking about this a while....

These are amazing options, Badduck - I can't imagine any of them would be less than fabulous! Please let us know what you choose (and if it's any help, I vote for that gorgeous pear!).

Thanks guys!

We were thinking of the pear and the 0.72 that David has on the website.

David,

Could you please take a picture of the pear and the radiant diamond side by side. We would like to see the differences between the pink color.

Also, looking a the grading chart, which represents the pear and the radiant?
http://diamondsbylau...iamond_grading.shtml

Greatly appreciated!!!

We may have to visit the local stores to get an idea of the 0.72 radiant cut.

Thanks again for your input.

Wow, that was some hour!

OK- the .72carat is closest to this one in person.
In fact, the photo is of a Fancy Pink Purple- which is the same GIA grade in terms of hue. The .72ct is classified as Fancy Light Pinkish Purple by GIA

In the shot below, the stone on the left is our 1.02 Fancy Light Orangy Pink
The pear shape, which is a gorgeous stone- is closest in shade to this one- although the Radiant is deeper in intensity of color.
I see the slight hint of orange in the 1.12's pink- although GIA calls it "Light Pink"

Here's a shot of the two together

i have tried on the radiant and it is beautiful in person.  the color is lovely, almost like a warm lilac.  i prefer the coolness in color to that of the warmth in the orangy pinks....
