Awww, DJM, you make me blush.

Actually, for my wedding, I swapped out the heavy rolled chain (which I also wear nearly everyday with a gold pendant) for three strands of lighter/sparklier/more elegant, less-in-your-face chain. Just wish I'd made it a tad longer.

The current setting is very much like Namtams but with a third layer of mellee creating the halo.

My plan is for a RHR that can handle daily wear.  With all the mellee, I am afraid it would be destroyed in about 1.5 seconds flat.

We haven't seen the double bags in a while.

This is how it looked with bags...

I've got a few L's, in different combinations of metals, and I just love them. Regardless of which alloy you choose, if you expect to see color with a "faint" grade (K-L-M or thereabouts) you must accommodate the fact that the tint is subtle, and not everyone will "see" and/or appreciate the color at all times. This is definitely a choice for the connoisseur of subtle. However, I think there is nothing more exquisite.

Yes, an L being almost an "inbetween" shade, is where I am unsure of the direction to take.  Your description of the light pink, is exactly the feeling I want.  To be able to look into the stone, because something draws me to it.  I fear choosing a combination that makes me feel like something is "off" or not quite "right".  Being slightly OCD, it would obsess me to no end.

btw, that set is beautiful!

I was going to mention that the pear you are considering had been set differently at one time. When I saw it, the stone was loose, I believe.

For what it is worth, some of the diamonds we've mentioned have a brown or pink tint, and I think rose gold, from the same color family, did help to bring out their hues. However, THIS stone, is not in that (brown/pink) color family.

As far as drawing out any color in this particular stone with metal (and and how it will impact your OCD tendencies, LOL)... I'd not expect to "see" too much difference in the stone, set vs. unset (if there is a flush of color, let it be a happy surprise). Although, as far as we know it has been set twice in a white metal; something quite different might happen when set in a warmer tone.

Regardless, this design process got complicated very quickly. So, perhaps it is time to go back to basics and "build" you ring step  by step... Start by thinking in terms of which metal you like against your skin – do you prefer cold (white metal) over warm (yellow or rose gold)? Compare this to which metal you want next to the center stone. Can it be the same metal? Then, halo or no halo? Then, do you want to contrast or match the diamond with sides/melee? As you mentioned, if daily wear is an issue, by all means, durability is a most important factor in terms of design.

WAIT!!!!! I just thought of another DBL ring with an L center that I LOVE. I kick myself everyday for not purchasing it; I had it on my hand for HOURS. I'll be back...

Here is SOLD R1379, 1.51ct L/SI1 cushion in yellow gold halo split shank. If you want warm and glittery, this is your type of gal...

Not sure how this setting ranks in terms of durability for everyday, however, if you like my earring and pendant set, this is the same color diamond, same color gold, with they same type of warmth and glittery-ness. Personally, I am CRAZY for yellow and rose gold with L and similar stones. If you like the way this alloy works with the diamond, you could choose a more durable setting if you needed to. Or, go with something like this and be willing to replace melee stones if needed. This ring was more golden and glittery in person. *SIGH*

I saw that ring and it was gorgeous in person!  I love yellow gold myself and think that it is lovely with a warmer coloured diamond!
