Nothing offical.....got to figure a couple things out first.

What is the best way to show this off?  The only thing I am afraid of is having the center look "dirty" compared to the high white of metal and E/F mellee.
Pink gold bezel?

This stone

Maybe a setting like this?

Or this?

Personally, I like the middle option with the yellow gold bezel.

Use coloured melee (yellow or pink).

I agree, a pink melee (or pretty pinkish brown) would be lovely... if you like rose gold, try that. OR, try the first (center) of the two options you posted in rose gold with white diamonds. Luscious. Also, rich, blue sapphires around the center would look dynamite in either white or yellow metal.

Have you spoken with David about it? He'll have the best take on what will work for the center.

BTW, I've seen that stone in person. Think... BIG!  Evil

I really like the idea of sapphires if you're willing to go that route...

I would want to embrace the warmth and show it off next to icy looking stones.   I probably would set it in yellow gold to accentuate as much as possible and then do high colored stones.  That's my personal preference though when looking at jewelry.

I'm actually concerned that the stone is too big for a halo.  How about sapphire side stones instead?

We just did an L colored cushion in pink gold next to colorless trilliants.
It looks cool.
I'll post photos later

I love the idea of doing sidestones as opposed to a halo...  Sapphires would be lovely...

i love the stone, the shape is absolutely beautiful, is it just me, or does it have a faint green tint?  yummy.  i like the pink gold with pink/brown idea, but i also agree it may be too big for a halo...i think Namtam got a winner with her pear, and i think that was a K: http://rockdiamond.c...-underhalo-from-1995

David, I can't believe how lovely that turned out!  I would never have thought of setting an "L" in pink - nicely done!

Oh my goodness, that L in pink is wonderful!!!  I never would have thought to set a stone like that.

Keeping this in my mind for a ring I know some day I want my DH to get for me Wink

Oh wow! That's lovely. It really celebrates the colour of the centre stone. Very nice.

Thanks everyone!  Pics are so helpful.

Is that the 1.66 L that had the brownish tinge?  Did it pick up pink?  My home monitor looks yellow but at work it looked pinkish.

Thanks Trinkette, big is good!  My fingers are long, so stones always seem to look smaller on my hand. I told David I would post on here for ideas.  Since it is a project in the works, I didn't want to pester him too much.  And since I am sooo indecisive, didn't want to confuse the poor man.   Grin

I love how the trills are sort of 'tucked under'.

And I do love how namtan's ring is set. That is pretty fab.

But then I love how the ring is set now to be honest. And I know I'd love it with double baguettes.

I've got a few L's, in different combinations of metals, and I just love them. Regardless of which alloy you choose, if you expect to see color with a "faint" grade (K-L-M or thereabouts) you must accommodate the fact that the tint is subtle, and not everyone will "see" and/or appreciate the color at all times. This is definitely a choice for the connoisseur of subtle. However, I think there is nothing more exquisite.

For what it is worth, I've come to decide that perhaps my FAVORITE DBL diamond ring of all time was the R1480, 2.25ct GIA Faint Pink princess that David had set in platinum with rose gold prongs – and I don't even LIKE princess cut diamonds (and I didn't care for the setting until I had it in my hand – LOVED it IRL). Really, in some lighting conditions, you could barely make out the tint in the diamond (IMO it is easier to see in the photos).   However, there was "something" about the ring that held your attention. It was like your eye perceived the color without you even realizing it. VERY subtle. VERY intoxicating. VERY beautiful.

Here is another faint L set in platinum with rose gold around the diamond (GIA "L, Faint Brown"). Again, the color is easier to perceive in the photos, against a dark background, than in IRL against a fleshy-colored hand. But, the lovely color is noticeable and the rose gold definitely coaxes out the hue.

DBL L-colored studs with jackets set in yellow gold (bluer looking in the photos than IRL due to the camera flash). I wear the studs without the jackets almost everyday. Sorry about the stinky photo.

T...I have always loved this set.

I always thought it was absolutely brilliant how you selected the gold, stones and design for this project to match the pendant and chain without making it so matchy-matchy... yet... still looking as if they were purchased as a set.  This is one of the best examples on this site of a neo-vintage project executed to perfection. (...not to mention the versatility of the jackets and studs). Love this T.
