My Blue Diamond Halo

WWW
« on: September 04, 2010, 05:43:09 PM »

So, in the future when I have more money for jewelry again........

I was thinking of resetting my blue diamond into a halo that would allow the eternity band that I have sit flush with the ring. It's either that or design a band to go with the existing ring.

I like Daussi rings like this....

But can you buy just the setting from Daussi or do you have to buy a diamond center stone with it? Will DBL make a ring like the Daussi?

That is such a pretty setting!

I do wonder if a cross between these two would work

http://rockdiamond.c...ade-version-3-so3375

I really like the second one a lot but sometimes I think I lean towards

sans the surprise diamond so that it would sit flush.

I do understand wanting the ring to sit flush.  Part of why I'm back to a halo thought for my eventual reset.

I like the way you think! I really like the delicate look of so3039 but that little circle at the base means that a ring won't sit flush to it. The so3375 is just ok for me. It looks too chunky and it sits too high but it has that design like the Daussi where a ring will sit flush with it.

I agree that the SO3375 would be too chunky particularly for your wedding band.  I also love the SO3039, but like you I want flush fit.  I am sure something could be done to make your perfect ring if you can't buy Daussis w/o a center stone.

SO3373 is also fabulous if you could have it made to sit flush.

Just curious do you have a profile shot of your current ring?  I am just curious about how that one looks from the side.

We should make sure David sees this so he can answer this all for you

David has these curved bands.  Ah2bqat's Lil' Bloo has one.

I thought about it but I am not sure how it would look with my ring. I ordered a matching band for my ring (same company but different manufacturer) and while I liked the look in general ... it didn't work for me because the two rings were too different.

Here are some photos of that set...

That is a pretty profile, but it stinks that it causes you to have bands not fit flush.  I get what you are saying about the bands not quite matching.  I wouldn't like that myself either.  Though this makes me think twice about doing a halo myself since I know it won't match my ring.  I guess I should've bought a set together LOL

Lyta, DBL can make whatever type of setting you like, including a Daussi-like setting.

So would you suggest that I get a new band made or a new ring?

I would have a new band made to fit against your ring, just as this band does.

I can see where the band is a different design with the square shank, and it's slightly wider than the shank on your ER.  However, from the front I really had to look twice to notice the difference, and I like it better than the eternity ring with your ER.

Another thing, the new band may not match your ER. David probably will not be able to match it as well as you would like.  Once again, different manufacturer and David uses well cut F VS melee.  Perhaps, you should have both rings remade at the same time for a true match.
