How could you set a stone like the R3122 and minimize the booger?

Would a gold bezel and white halo tend to hide its problem or emphasize it?  That is such a lovely stone and at such a price I know she won't last long.  Still, for future reference I'd love have an idea of how to take advantage of such a bargain.  (and yes, right now I'm in split shaft heaven, with or without halos) Evil

A great question bloo!

The fact is, it's a wild card.
i bought her because she's so well cut- with a color to die for.
We probably need to set her and find out!
It's impossible to know how such stones react, till you actually set them
I've sen it where the booger disappears- and also where it gets more obvious.....,

In a sense it's the same as a "window closing" problem: if you have a coloured stone with a window, it's often possible to place a little "mirror" of gold or platinum to "close" it from many viewing angles.

If done right, it seems almost miraculous: the mirror just reflects the stone colour back while remaining invisible - it effectively turns the "see through" effect of a window into the semblance of a perfectly cut stone. If done poorly - blech.

Here what you need is to reflect a "healthy" piece of diamond rather than the booger. However it ain't simple to do; sophisticated light-modelling CAD might help, but it may push the price of the ring beyond commercially viable levels.
