Hi everyone!  Isn't it just a byooootiful day?

((Gee, can you tell I has sparkly now?))

The delicate and lovely R3623 has decided its permanent home will be on my finger now Smiley  I'm sort of vacillating on what to pair it with as a wedding band, though.  I don't have a caliper, but I think the shank is about 1.6mm- very delicate.  I'm not sure I want anything too wide next to her, but I would like something strong enough to stand on its own if for any reason I want to leave her safely at home.  And, you know, not get hit on for not having a ring on it Wink  I didn't like the look of a completely plain band next to her (thanks for the hand shot anyway, David- your wife has gorgeous hands!), but as much as I love micropave, I was thinking it would be nice to have one ring that I didn't worry as much about as the other!  I'm also tossed-up about a straight vs curved band.  A tiny, delicate straight band would sit nicely, but anything larger would have to be curved, I think.

I have a ring in mind, that I'd like to have made in an altered form (aka I have seen it in platinum with white diamonds, and want to switch out the metal and stones).  The problem is, I have only ever seen this ring from one specific designer, who may or may not ever have worked with DBL ::coughcough:: and I don't want to 1) plagiarize 2) break forum rules by linking to another site 3) buy my wedding ring from anyone but DBL.

So do I describe it, or wait for further instructions on what I can and can't do? Smiley  All suggestions are welcome!

You could:

1. Describe it - but it's kind of tough, even when the description is veeery good (not that yours wouldn't be, but it's really difficult to both describe and visualise if there are no "common terms" as in "it's a bit like X design but with Y change).

2. Post a photo from the other site - once you have Picasa or Photobucket sorted out.

3. Send David a link and details of the "other" ring and ask him if/what he can do. The answer is usually "yes".

Ok, here goes my description!   Diamonds are channel-set in a millegrained band, about 1.5 mm.  They're square French cuts, and set upside-down.  Yes, it's sort of a weird concept, but I fell in love with it!

I don't want to "steal" a design, though- I have no idea what a copyright is like on this stuff!  However, I have seen rectangular French cut stones, and was thinking that it would be really cool to have those instead of the squares, to echo the shape of my cushion, and have those diamonds be champagne (or whatever the heck color my stone is deciding to be at the moment), pinkish-brown, whatever.  And do it in rose gold or green gold, just because as long as I'm being strange, why not go whole hog? Smiley

Oh, and can anyone explain why exactly my diamond changes colors to such an extreme?  I adore it, but I have been teasing James that we have to go out to a romantic restaurant if I ever want to see it turn brown again!

Umm..not sure where to post it, but thought that since it relates to a jeweler that can not be named, and that said jeweler also makes the ring that I would like a different version of as a wedding band, that I should put it here!

I went on that jeweler's main website, and there was something there about selling all future creations with a Certificate of Authenticity, because of "unscrupulous jewelers" imitating said jeweler's work, and/or claiming to work in that jeweler's company.  That bothered me.  The aforementioned work *is* exquisitely done, but nothing so far off the norm in creativity as to be able to accuse *anyone* of imitation.  Basically, it follows the current trends of micro pave and halo mountings, and does them very, very well, along the lines of DBL's Uber line.

I may be beating around the bush too much...I basically think DBL just got accused of "cheating".  Anyone wanna weigh in on this?  David?  (If you read my previous description of the ring in question, you may get my meaning!) david

One designer comes to mind when mentioning something like that.  That idea isn't original though.  I've seen it done on some vintage rings.  In fact I thought that is where the idea came from.

Anyway I did check the website of said jeweler and I think I know who he might be talking about.  There is one name that comes to mind as a supposedly former exmployee of said jeweler.  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  The work is lovely but not unique to said jeweler.
