I don't think a petite diamond would work. I would guess there are smaller and larger versions of this ring if he's gotten it where I think he got it.

I really like the style, but that particular casting doesn't do it for me.  It looks to be a bit much.

Sorry David, this ring doesn't do it for me either. It's too... clunky... and for some reason, clumsy looking? Does that even make any sense???

If there aren't diamonds in heaven, I'm not going!

For some reason I always seem to love things when the other girls don't!  I really like this one and I don't normally like split shanks.  I would love to see it all done.  I have no doubt it would sell.  I agree that it needs a good sized center though.

As WM said, I think it would look much different with the melee set but I do agree that a larger center stone is required as to not be overwhelmed by the setting. I like it, I don't love it, but I may change my mind on the finished product if one were to be made...

Hey ladies!  I just got Snoopers PM and I still don't have pics of my stone set and I don't have time to read the entire thread, but I'll post some pics of my setting as well as pics of my "inspiration" for going with the split shank.  My life is crazy right now with me getting some flu that has me practically on my death bead, but I have to come to school because we have parent-teacher conferences and then there's the fact that my parents both lost their jobs! If I know David, he has a good idea of how this ring will look when finished.   Also, Isn't the cushion that he has sitting in it a rather nice size?   Remember, the setting can only take a certain size stone to begin with so maybe you can't go any bigger than the cushion sitting in it.  (At least that is what makes sense to me)  dontknow ~Ronda

I'm with you DJ. I like it. And I'll bet it comes in more than one size.

I really like that setting!!! And I absolutely love split shanks. But I've always been a big fan of bigger, chunkier jewelry. I'm sure it'll look more refined once it's polished & the melee is set. But I think you guys are right, it's definitely a setting for a larger diamond....nothing petite!

It is nice L Cole.

David and I talked about that split shank setting. He said it's just not all that great in person--not up to his standards or mine.

David is going to actually make a custom split shank ring. Finding castings that are not chunky and ugly is really difficult. And it's not until I went myself that I saw what David means by this. Lots of times you can make one look decent in a photo that is ghastly in person. We're not going to nestle our precious diamonds in ugly settings. It woud be unworthy of them.

Most castings really have that "off the shelf" look to them with edges that look unfinished and cheap. And while many of you might not have recognized this 10 years ago, now that you have DBL rings, you'd notice it and it would bug you.
