Wouldn't it be fun if we could see some new casting models?  bom

We could have a poll and the one we choose to be our favorite, David could make.....  blob3

I would love to see a split shank with diamonds, but with no diamonds around the center, just diamond on the four "arms" going up to hold the diamond.... did anyone understand what I am talking about??? Hard to explain....can I do it Norwegian...   icon_jokercolor

Cool idea Pinklady.

Do you mean that you would like to see the split shank minus the halo, but instead see the diamonds continue on the sides of the basket and on the prongs?

Yes that right KK.   icon_thumleft

I have seen a picture with a ring that looked close to what I was thinking about somewhere here on CDI, but I can find it.  Cry

Any time Pinklady!  toothy4

Yes, I do think that the melee goes all the way up the basket and on the prongs.  Snooper would know more maybe as she posted the pics.  It is LeAnn Rimes ring.

First, I'd like to compliment our Norwegian friend on her beautiful use of the English language.
I'm sure we ALL have no problem understanding our good friend.

it's a good question, Pinklady- brings up some interesting aspects of how jewelry is made.

So- we know that there are "castings" commercially available

This, of course, is luvnjewelry's ring prior to setting.

Below, you can see her photo of it after we finished

Getting rings to look like this involves a lot of steps.
Before we ever offer a ring made from a casting, we make one as a test.
If it comes out badly, we remove the diamonds, and scrap the metal.
This can be a costly process.

Just like we reject most of the diamonds we see, we reject almost all the commercially available castings on 47th street.
But some are rejected only after we've experimented, by making one.

The choices are seemingly endless too.

For these reasons, we let the diamonds dictate the style in most cases.

I do like that split shank setting. It basically has a split shank studded with diamonds and no halo. I think this direction from you guys lets us know what to look for. And I do think it's tasteful. We just need to find one that meets our criteria. Or rather one that meets David's criteria.

Neither of us likes the look of a "cheap" casting to nestle our diamonds. It has to be well built and at the same time be nice looking and show off the diamond. Until I went semi mount shopping with David I never knew how much freaking ugly stuff there was out there. I had previously only been exposed to what we had.

PS:
I'm quite sure we could find a split shank non halo model.......I guess I should say, we will be offering a non halo split shank soon......

Thanks David and WM. I guess I thought it was just to pick a model and that's it! But, what do I know....not much I am afraid.  Huh?  Grin

I will be standing first in line when you get a non halo split shank. I do have a halo so I need something different..... will it ever stop?  Confused42 I hope not.....  toothy4

OK, if you do a split shank with no halo (like Leann Rhimes') I am going to be in trouble, as I will have to get one!

I also vote for a model with an all-around micropave shank for a solitaire, like the shank you have on the double halo yellow pear you have (had?  I cannot find it).
