While I like how the loose ones on David's site are larger, one looks chubbier than the other, and that would bother me....

Hey Snoop.... could you show me which page are you speaking of? I'd like to fix it!

BTW- I agree that the small EC's might be a bit tiny.
We'd have to custom make the settings- we could not find any ready made parts that fit....
We can do a very nice pair of 1/2 tw's that would be more noticeable.......

GREAT EYE Snoop...you wanna come work here? heheheh

In fact I also see a slight difference in width between the two stones-
In my opinion, the difference is less of an issue on earrings as opposed to a ring.

If we were going to use them as sides, we'd line them up and check if the difference is noticeable- if so, we can't set them as side diamonds.

I can cope with the difference, because my head will be in the way, as noted! I do wonder if they might be a bit too big for me.

I really don't want to have to change them - I know there's a great return / upgrade etc policy, but I am so nervous about sending diamonds to the US - it's impossible to get insurance for their full value in that direction, for some reason. I want this pair to be my forever studs, LOL.  (It was a bit scary sending my oval, but I didn't rate it until I saw it in it's pink setting, so I figured it wasnt worth much and I wasn't too stressed!)

I have smallish earlobes, but they are pierced a little too high up - I'd need the earring post to be at one end of the EC, rather than in the middle. 1/2ct tw might be the perfect size for me - about the same size as my rb studs, which I think from memory are just under 5mm. I do think the small ECs, although very lovely would be a little bit too small.  I would be very interested in the 1/2 cttw pair, David!

Thanks!

Jen

PS Snooper, don't tempt me! I'm in the market for everyday studs! I'm also indecisive - don't get me into style options while I'm still struggling with the basics LOL

Ooo I love the idea of EC studs and would loooove a pair myself someday---so I of course if given the option would go for the larger ones, shrinkage is evil  Grin  Can't wait to see which ones you choose!

I love the way you think, Snooper! I must confess at this point (whisper it!) I'm not really a size girl! I don't live in an area where you often see big diamonds (by which I mean much over 0.5ct!). I wouldn't be entirely comfortable sporting a couple of carats in my earlobes most of the time, which would mean they only got worn on special occasions, evenings out etc. I already have a couple of special event diamond earrings, so I really need something I can wear all the time, in place of my RB studs, which will be featuring in a three stone with yellow centre trellis ring sometime soon!!!

I just need to shift more of my old ebay junk purchases via our works e-noticeboard first. (Or, if anyone from work is reading this - hi there, I have some quality gems listed, check it out!)

Oh jen I love the sound of EC studs. Shame there isn`t a way of fitting gizmos onto a nice pair of everday sized EC studs which would then convert them into a Wow pair for special occasions. David had some lovely RB studs a while ago which had yellow pairs fitted to them by gizmos. Was it IHADP who bought them ?

Even if you are not a size girl, I say go with the 1.10s.  They are gorgeous, and I am sure they will not be overwhelming in person.  Perfect everyday wear IMHO.

Gizmos, pears, great big ECs, oh my! I need to think! Depends on the prices - if there isn't much difference between the 0.5 and the 1.10 pairs....

I have to go to work this evening, I'm like an hour late! THey're tolerant of me, but I'm stretching a point now!

Back later.

Not me...(yet!), it was KK.  Forgive me kk for reposting your gorgeous gizmos here.
Mine were the 1.25 total ct weight yellows.  Pic reposted here for proportion example Jen.  I love mine, and think they're a perfect 'middle of the road' size for every day wear.  I've medium size earlobes, and feel they're not too huge as to attract wowza stares, yet big enough to feel substantial!  So I know for me, these were a great size to find my happy medium place.

Have you thought about trying some inexpensive (i.e. synthetic) studs first to see what size suits you best?  Might be one way to tell before you commit to the real deal purchase.

I would definitely wait and go for the 1.10s.

My DBL RB studs are 1.2 carat, and they are a WONDERFUL size.  Substantial, without being too large for daytime/workplace wear.

I spent much of today picturing EC studs with EC gizmos. I'm not sure, but I think that could be an amazing look. Sort of art decco style.

Why is is that as soon as one project is on the go, I'm thinking about the next one? I can only go so long before the cravings hit again. The interval between purchase and craving seems to be getting shorter, too. Grin

Ok, so I'm going for a big pair of EC studs (big by my standards, not by the general CDI benchmark!)

I can't have them until October though, partly because they're a birthday present (close enough!) and partly because I agreed not to invest any more of our income in diamonds. DH needs to be a bit more cautious in framing his contractual terms, though. I have a law degree, after all. From now on, all diamond purchases are funded from capital, not revenue. Unfortunately it takes a little longer to access the $$$, but I'm sticking absolutely to our agreement - this is not funded through income. LOL!

It may not be those particular big ones, but David said he would find me a pair when the time comes, so I know they're going to be knock out! And I can buy something every 90 days, until DH catches on and re-words the agreement!   Grin

I really like the way you think, LOL.  And I echo the others' opinions that I think you've made the right decision to go with the larger ones.  I think you'll be very pleased!!

I think, in this case, size matters, IHADP!

Now watch me rip through the $ we had set aside against our old age and infirmity! I'll have the nicest diamonds in the parish poor house.

DJ, you're not playing nice! Just because I thought you should buy 24 ct halos for your chocolates doesn't mean to say you have to see me destitute too! Mind you, we might get adjoining cells in the debtor's prison in a few years.

I have to go to prison tomorrow - I'll think of us and our diamonds!

There's a sign on the inside of the front door of one of the high security jails in my area that says "please close this door behind you."

No sh*t!

Oh Lordy, that's scary that a sign has to be posted for that!!  LOL!  It reminds me of tags on things like "Don't immerse in liquid" on hairdryers, etc...

It is a little worrying, isn't it? I mean, what else do we need to be told? Once you've got in past the barbed wire, CCTV, guard patrols with dogs, etc - yeah, close the door!

There's another nice one at the chemical plant. A small pond, with bubbling green froth and steam coming off it - the environment protection agency monitors it every 12 hours, by statute. A sign next to it says "no swimming."

No kidding!

Oh man, eeeewwwwwww. But does it say "Please don't drink the water"??  No?  Hmmm, could be in for a lawsuit...
I can't believe what people sue over anymore.  Excuse me, but doesn't suing someone over something idiotic YOU just did make you look even more idiotic?  Geeezzzzzzzz....
