I'll do it if you do it! (You can go first, too - just let me know if it hurts!) Grin

Hmmmm...  Very tempting, in a I-just-went-back-to-kindergarten kind of way, but, um, probably not!!   Grin

Jen, it won't hurt if you get it in the soft fleshy part of the ear. It will hurt for all of a 1/2 a second and then feel warm but that's it. Now if you got it in the cartilage, it doesn't hurt that bad getting it done but hurts something awful for weeks and sometimes months. My upper ear piercing still hurts from time to time and it has been a year!!!!!

Nope, can't cope with that! Sounds ouchy! I have a  high pain threshold but a very low squeamish threshold, if you know what I mean.  Grin

When you come to the states you can easily get your ears pierced.  You can go into just about any tattoo and piercing parlor and it will be quick and sanitary.  Also at earrings boutiques like Claires, even Walmart will pierce, or re-pierce.

LOL I was in Claire's when I chickened out yesterday! The elaborately bored teenager who does the piercings gave me such a look of disdain that now I really will have to go to a branch on another continent to have this done! Grin

Snoop, that's too funny - ovals! Oh wait...OVAL,,,! Like a fresh disappointment every morning! LOL

She said something to her friend that made them both laugh, but I don't think it was because they thought I was funny, per se... Grin

There's a good chance that by the time I get to NYC, all the staff in Claire's there will have heard about me and they'll snigger too - "hey, aren't you the lady who was too chicken to get her ears pierced in our Glasgow store?"

Mrs. M...I got my second piercing for my 41st birthday!  I went to Claires to have it done.  The key is to bring a good friend...to make sure that the hole is put in the right place.  AND to help you not chicken out.  By the way, it doesn't hurt...it is more of a pinch than a hurt.  GO FOR IT!!

Ok, I'll round up one of my less squeamish pals and try again. Although I had a friend with me when I tried last time and it freaked her out too. She's a theatre nurse!!! Funnily enough, we got our ears pierced together when we were about 12 (in defiance of strict parental instructions) and we both agreed that it was much, much easier then!
Jen

ETA
This is too funny - my mother just rang and I mentioned I was thinking of getting  a second piercing (why? what motivated me to mention this to my mother?).  She actually said, more or less word for word all the things she said when I got the first ones done, at the age of 12!

Not a big fan of earpiercing, clearly! Grin Now I come to think about it, I'm the only woman in my family with pierced ears. I was laughing so hard I could barely hang up in disgust!

Something tells me you may have an easier time going ahead with the piercing now that your mother has expressed her disapproval.   Wink

I got mine holes re opened when I was 20, and it was definitely a lot scarier than when I was 12, but honestly, it didn't hurt.

Annie, you're so right! It will make all the difference, same as last time when I was 12!

DJ, I'll pass that on!  Grin  I don't know why, but my mother firmly associates pierced ears with 'painted ladies.' Grin Looking back, it's a miracle I escaped my teenage years without multiple body piercing (something to do with my being a complete coward when it comes to pain maybe??)

I have a feeling that if I picked up the phone again, she'd still be on the line ranting!

Don't get me wrong, I love my mother dearly. She has her little foibles though! Grin  When I got engaged, she was sorry my ring was only platinum, and let it be known that she'd have paid for proper Scottish gold if only we'd said we were so poor...

I am all alone laughing out loud in my lonely Manchester hotel room at this...  Thank you!

I am not only a tart with multiple piercings, but I have a new tattoo on my arm no less and neither of my parents have commented yet.  How sad is that?  I am almost 40 and sad that I have lost the ability to shock mey parents Sad

WOHOO!  I want to see that tatoo!   (oops... didn't mean to rhyme Wink)

KK... you have been on a whirlwind lately... how did you ever have time for getting something so relaxing as a tatoo?? Grin

I can't believe your parents haven't notice.   I bet they have though... they just don't want you to know that they have seen it.... Wink

Manchester is only a few hours away from where I live. You are most welcom to come and shock my parents instead!  Grin Oh, and it doesn't take multiple piercings either- just one will do! A tattoo? Beyond the pale! Grin

Can we see it? Did it hurt? So cool!
