Would rectangular baguette studs be possible? I looked into trading my RB studs for emerald cuts, but the company didn't have anything suitable and said they'd be quite hard to come by. I wondered how baguettes would look? I saw some today actually, but the cut was a bit of a train wreck, so it was hard to tell if they would look good or not. Would be very interested in a ball park price for rectangular baguette studs in white gold...

Hypothetically, of course!

Jen

ETA: plus, this way I would get to keep my RB studs too...

Hi All!

Actually, rectangular baguettes are very similar to emerald cuts- the only difference is baguettes traditionally have 90degree corners, while emerald cuts have beveled, or clipped corners.
To me, emerald cuts make more sense as earring diamonds.....

US? Have diamonds lying around? NEVER- they all sit, not lie down....hehehehe

Here's emerald cuts which will make 1/3ct total weight  pairs in E-F VS quality.....

These look good enough to eat! I love ECs and they are fine.  Any idea of a price for a pair in white gold?

Also, can you give a rough idea of the length please?

I love the way this hypothetical project is taking shape...

Hi Jen,
They are really sweet stones
They measure 3.5 x 2.7mm
A typical pair weighs .33cts

We'd set them in 18karat white gold and price them at $579 for CDI member/readers

You're killing me David!

Jen - I was so surprised to see this post!  I was thinking about baguettes as earrings just last week.  I was so smitten with the idea that I even tried to photoshop some to see how they might look, but I wasn't terribly successful.  Those little ECs are way too cute though...

Ok, I would have liked to go a little bigger, but at that price, these are perfect! I think I'll have a pair of these, I get my paycheque next week, so I'll sort it out then!*

We don't really need to buy food and stuff anyway...

Jen

*unless I win the no reserve ebay auction, in which case the studs will have to be abandoned for a month or two. I could live with that!

Am definitely going to have a pair. They will look perfect! Only thing is, DH just offered to buy them for my birthday. Great. Except that it isn't till November and I sort of want them, like, um, now would be good. Not sure what to do now. I suppose I could wait, but I need to figure out a way of not waiting, if you know what I mean.

Hmm.

How about a Mother's Day present?  That means he's LATE getting it for you.
If you're not a mom, do you have a pet?  A plant..??

Then I will wear it with my new studs! Grin

I'm not a mom, but I took this advice on board and bought him a pot plant today. No dice. I might just buy them for myself. It won't exactly be a first! It will be the fun portion of my July paycheque instead of June!

Ok, now you can see why I have little in the way of sensible investments!

I bought a car yesterday, on a whim.  It is very lovely, but I had a perfectly good one. Ah well, just small diamonds for now.

David,
I would love a pair of these studs, just have a timing issue, since my husband wants them to be a birthday present. Could you pm me if stocks run low please (I counted 8 pairs in that rather lovely photo). I would hate to miss out.

I'm currently in negotiations over the date my birthday should be celebrated this year. He thinks November would be about right, I think Thursday should do it. I'll get back to you as soon as he sees it my way.  Grin

Many thanks

I like your style Jen lol.
I used to say similar to my husband and after 30 years or so , he simply learned that " yes dear, I agree " was the best response. Grin
BTW at this rate I`ll need a canoe to get to Scotland.

Aye, we've had a wee bit of weather up here! Actually, I think the south of England had it worse, but there has been a lot of water here too. My guttering all collapsed, and I need to sort these studs out before the cash is diverted to house repairs. This has happened before. Once was fine, twice ok. Three times and it's just getting old.

I'm heartened to hear that the "Yes dear" response can become learned behaviour, but I was hoping it wouldn't take 30 years!

IHADP, you are becoming a skilled enabler. Keep up the good work!

Ok, small dilemma. Shall I have a pair of these little ec studs now (and what do people think of that size? I only have one piercing per ear!) or wait a couple of months and get the ECs listed on the matching pairs page? DH wanted to get studs for my birthday, I'll just tell him the small ones were gone, if need be...

I sold a ton of old jewelry at work - bless whoever thought we needed an electronic noticeboard there and I can therefore justify an immediate small splurge. I'm just not sure if these will be big enough though. My current studs are a nice size on me - 0.48 each (rb) Any thoughts??
