I'm really in love with the 0.76J Escher.

If it is set between 2 step cut traps and get the look of R1474 K but in mini version, how much the traps should weight and how much it will cost.   (hopefully not too much  pray)

Thanks

Hi Namtan!

I'm sure David will get back to you on this asap, but in the meantime, can I just say that would be a STUNNING ring!

I like that asscher a lot too. It has real personality and it looks to be a beautifully cut stone.

Just to make sure (because I'm really interested in the answer, I'd love a ring like that lol) david

Hi Namtam,
I'd say it's possible- certainly at the smaller end of stones that will work with traps.
Tomorrow I'll have our poeple take a look and see if we have a matching pair of step cut traps proportional with the lovely .76ct.
The stone:

If so, I'd say we'll be looking at a total weigh of less than 1/4ct...but we'll see!!

In terms of price, we'll work very hard to get this on your finger in a trhee stone custom made ring for under $3000.

Fabulous choice of an Asscher I must say. I love the cut! With traps sides all for under $3000 - this one has the makings of another classic DBL piece.  Smiley

some more questions
 david

What about 3 stones asscher. How much should side asschers weight? total weight around 1/2 ct ?
I like the proportion of R1342 (the gorgeous 0.72 radiant pink ring).
and how much will it be. under $3,000 still possible?

Now I'm considering 3 choices
1)  0.76 J asscher with traps
2)  three stone asschers
3)  0.76 J asscher studded in lucida setting.

what do you guys think?
I wear size 5 ring. Will number 3 choice look too small?

so many questions ha  Wink thanks in advance for your input.

I'm not sure if you can send PMs in this forum. Try email?

OK, no PM.

Re: Lucida setting. Are you afraid the Asscher center might be overwhelmed by the setting?
Code:

That could be one reason DiamondHunter and I think someone in this board once said Lucida studded look really good with asscher. Another reason would be my tight budget  Roll Eyes

what I mean for #3 choice is just normal Lucida setting.

My personal choice would be your first idea, the asscher with traps. When you described that, I had one of these "why didn't I think of that" moments. It just struck me as a really nice way of maximising finger cover without letting the setting /sides distract you from that beautiful asscher.

My least favourite would be the lucida / diamond studded lucida. It's a lovely setting but I can't see it making the most of that particular stone (personally - some people might love that).

The asscher sides would be nice too, but really, I think you got it perfectly right first time - traps would be my choice.

Hope that helps (although it's just my opinion, other people might have totally different ideas).

Can't wait to see what you pick. Is it for a special occasion, or just for fun? I really do like your choice of centre stone.

Thank you very much Jen.  Smiley
I was afraid the 0.25 ctw of traps will be to small and all 3 diamonds will look like one.

It could be for special occasion like my daughter 1 st birthday this month  Grin

DH: What will you get for our daughter first birthday?
me: Diamond rind  4
DH: Roll Eyes

LOL that seems like a reasonable birthday gift decision.

I don't think the diamonds will be too small at all - I'm a little shy of BIG rings though, so I suppose it depends on your personal preference. I'd really like a ring like that - asscher with traps. I think the size would be perfect for me and I don't think it will merge into looking like one stone. Maybe David could take a photo of the three stones together, so you get a feel for the size. You have quite a small finger size, so I'm guessing the asscher + 0.25ctw traps will be a nice spread.

Actually my favorite would be the three asschers- although that probably would bust the $3000 budget.
I also like option 3..but that's a personal choice.

The traps might look good- but we'd have to see. My concern wold not be that they would look like one stone but rather there would be a chance there would be too much prong for the stone size. Once I pick a pair of traps we'll have a better idea on that one......

OK, I had to go lookup the size of the Asscher here http://rockdiamond.c...-gia-diamond-dossier

Going back and forth was driving me crazy (my memory is terribly short these days...). the .76ct  J/SI1 diamond R2873 size is: 5.13 x 5.00 x 3.37mm.

Now that I've got the sizing straight in my head, I agree, I'd love to see a three-asscher ring. But, it is most likely a budget buster. Namtam, you have a good eye... I've been lucky enough to hold the beautiful, demure R1342. In terms of size and proportion, the diamonds suit one another perfectly.  Undecided

I'm off to find a diamond studded lucida to study...  Exit-Stage-Right

If too much prong is the problem, how about a bar/half bezel setting with very thin bars? They may stand out less than prongs, and would enable a "sharing" of the bar between the centre and the sides.

Would nice, crisp claws, rather than rounded prongs help at all? If they're elegant, they are a feature in their own right, one that I like a lot.

My fear is the structure to diamond ratio would be off balance no matter the type of prongs....but I could be wrong on this one......

OMC- a nice idea, for sure!
Thin bar setting is very delicate- so using such setting on a ring might not be optimal- but worth checking on nonetheless!

I think the asscher with traps would look lovely.  That asscher is a gorgeous stone.  Nice choice Namtan.
